If the card has been activated then it will work in any box-that is a fact.
So if your supplier has activated the card for you in another box in the UK for you , you will have ITV,4 and five-no probs.

You are probably dealing with an unknown third party of course and once they have your money, what they promise to have done and what they deliver might not be the same.
So with a bit of luck they are honest and have activated the card for you , in which case you are in business.

Incidently, you will notice when you get the card that it will, if it has been activated in another box, give you ITV etc, but if you scan foward to any subscription movie channell, it will tell you it is the wrong card for that box, but that wont matter of course.

does this mean, if i get one, would i lose rte 1 and network 2 and tv3 and tg4?

also where would i get one of these?

No, 'cause you would still have your subscription card.
You just swap them when you want to watch the Irish and sub channels and vice versa.

You do not tell sky that you are in Ireland when you ring the U.K number that is on the free to view website.
Regarding how to get one specifically...
Read all of this thread and you will get that information.

But take a note of the specific trouble shooting contained therein and you will need a U.K address as you will have to pretend you live there and will need someone there to foward on the card for you.
You will have to make a second call to the ftv number when you finally receive the card ( again pretending you are at your "UK" address ) in order to have the card activated.
They will ask during that call for the serial no of the box and the version no etc.
under no circumstances should you mention your other sub card or the fact that you are in Ireland at any point when you are on to that special FTV number and you can dial 141 before their number so as to hide yours from them seeing it.

All other questions should be answered for you in the thread I've linked you to above, but read the entire thread so as you get a good feel for what you need to do.

I just phoned the ftv number. I chose option 3 on the automated answer machine and got through to an operator. She asked me had I a Sky dish and receiver. I said no (I have, but didn't want to give the details as it would indicate I've an Irish subscription), and she tells me I cannot get the card.

I told her I was getting a dish next week and could I order the card now. She said no. Phone back when I have the Sky Dish etc.

Has this happened to anyone else.

They're going to have to get the box details sometime, otherwise the card won't work.
