Should people who park on the footpath / bus lane / cycle lane / loading bay or dangerously (near junction, away from footpath, wrong side of road, blocking entrance) pay double (or more!) the clamping fee / parking fine of people who just simply don't feed the parking meter?

While all of these people should be towed, in practice not all can. Quite often they though they will be towed around the corner and then clamped.

    Short answer yes...

However, I would prefer to see more leniency for people who've parked in designated spots, but just run out of time. For example, a 15 minute grace period after the sticker has expired. If they arrive back in those 15 minutes, no problem. After 15 minutes they incur a smaller fine, say €40, but no clamping. If the car is there well past the ticket expiration (say an hour), or has no ticket, then they should be clamped (and obviously the €40 is increased to the cost of getting the clamp removed, not added to it).

If you park somewhere where you're not supposed to, such as Victor has outlined above, then you should be clamped AND fined for illegal parking...

Like seamus, short answer is yes. These people can be a real menace. I agree with the rest of his post as well. Let's bitchslap people who double park as well.
