Problems tunning in sky boxes

    Hi Guys,

    Any ideas on this problem:

Parents house have sky box turned in on the lower end of the UHF frequency and with the way the house is wired this allowed viewing of the same channel in another room.

I brought my sky box home for the christmas as I have all the channels and connected it up. It would not display anything on this UHF connection so i did a manual channel setup on the tv and it tuned in on the exact same frequency as TG4 (normal tv aerial in attic) and would not give me a proper picture. My solution was to connect in the scart lead and this solved the problem in one room only, but because it was also tuned in on top of TG4 the other room is getting a crap picture.

Now I have removed the my box and connected the original sky ox and it will not tune into its original tv channel. So now I am left with having to use a scart lead to get sky for my parents and can't get TG4 back either. Rte1, network 2, tv3 and tg4 are tuned in to seperate channels outside of the sky setup due to aerial in the attic.

Does anyone have any suggestions and alos how do you do a manual reset of a sky box.

Hi u need to go into the service menu in your parents box first and find out what the RF channel is set at, u call it uhf, but rf is more apt. To get to service menu do the following sequence

services, 401 and select, then 4 where u can change rf channel frequencies, so set it at whatever it was originally and press save settings. TIP do this while viewing with scart.

Then tune tv as per normal.

post back if stuck and dont forget to press select after 401.

    HI GB,

The tuning in as you suggested works perfectly as long as I don't power off the sky box. Is there any way that I can get it to remember the settings even if the power is turned off ??

Yes when u go to that menu and change rf look for the bar that says "save settings" arrow down to that and press ok on remote and it is saved.

Just click on "save new settings" after you change the RF output channel which may mean you have to re tune the tv to get picture back while still in the Rf outlets menu.

    Hi guys,

Have done the save settings and retuned the tv to the new channel and it works fine. I can then put the sky box into stand by mode and it works fine but when ever i unplug the sky box and plug it back in it goes back to the old settings even after save new settings has been done.
It keeps going back to channel 68.

when u power off it is obiviously re-setting to default so this means there could be a problem with the receiver, what make is it? Leave it powered on as it is not advisable to keep powering it off and on.
