I'm thinking most of those 5,000 were in work also. If I had been in work, I would have been refreshing like a mofo ;)

Wasn't anywhere near a pc over Christmas, though if i had net access no doubt i would have been online, be it in boards, or just generally wasting time elsewhere!!!

We should shutdown next Christmas as a matter of public health.

There is *nothing* to do on Christmas day.
Nowhere's open, most families stay at home.
I watched a few DVDs, played Arcanum for a few hours and checked boards, mail and various tech sites over a seriously dodgey dial-up connection.
    Got 9600baud at one stage.
Must get eircom out, line is extremely crackly.

sweet lord. I thought my Christmas Day 31.2k was bad!

Boards on Christmas day - I guess it proves the importance of this online community to its members.. :)

I wasnt near a PC since last Monday. One of the reasons being if I brought my PC back to the country, I'd get a connection like SyxPak's, a severe step down from 512k broadband. By Christmas Eve the shakes started to stop....
But if I was online, I would've been here too.

No, what would be worse is being online at midnight on New Years Eve.....

Actually if I'm near a machine on New years eve I'm going to check it just after midnight... and ban anyone on :)

For future reference is this a policy change an early implementation of your new years resolution or just a whim?

Indeed. This year I'll again be sending "Happy arbitrarily-chosen year number change day bah humbug" text messages to the loved ones I won't be seeing.

Then stay at home and watch that Jools Holland's hootenanny thing, with a nice drink and a fire. Worked for me the last few years... :)
