/rant As a great fan of the show I dont like to deride it,and personally thought the first two of the three new episodes were not bad at all(they werent classics, but they were laughable enough). But are any fellow long time fans in agreement that last nights episode was one of the worst ever shown?
It had no concrete plot, just a few ten minute space fillers put together to reach an ending. For example Del and the boys have hated Boycie for years and always took pleausre in any misfortune he had. So why did they have such a threatening manner towards Denzil when they thought he had run off with her?
And how did Delboy turn from a cockney jack the lad who likes the adventureous women into a henpecked significant other of an idiotic feminist?I really cringed at the line"women bleed too". How many south east London women say middle class crap like that? And Del,once the drinker of either pints or expensive but manly cocktails taken straight out of Bond films, was seen drinking,Im nearly certain,a Bacardi Breezer. My god Del,where did you go wrong? Next thing he will be in the nags head asking Sid to make him a fat frog. And the line"women are from venus.....men are from Peckham"didnt even seem to get much of a canned laughter it was so bad. And when Albert talked about Freddy the Frog he described him as a loveable rogue,a gentleman thief. But Del described him in worse terms than he has described his father in the past. And if Del was on the jolly boys trip in 1960 with Freddy, and he was always in the house, how come in the frogs legacy Del hadnt a clue who Freddy the Frog was when Triggers aunt mentioned him? All in all poor stuff, one of the weakest Ive seen.
    /rant ends

Im a big fan see and have a simpsons like memory for this show:)

Yeah I agree, Gopher. The only laugh-out-loud gag in the whole hour was trigger's blinking......

To me, it was a rehash of all the old gags (one last time). Del's "Bonjour", Trigger's "Dave", Triggers stupidity (seemed overused in this episode).....

Lets hope John Sullivan calls it a day, and we don't have any more "last ever episodes". I'm not holding my breath, though.

i watched the first special where they became millionaires and liked it... a nice ending.

i refused to watch it last year as i felt they were flogging a dead horse, and from what i heard they were. this year i did watch it and i was disgusted.
Everything gopher said is spot on, it was a terrible plot, with poor re-hashed catchphrases. the jokes were very poor and could be seen a mile away (the genius of the old shows was the way the jokes were from no-where, totally unpredicatable, and the way the stories always weeved in and out and had classic endings such as the blow-up dolls episode).
triggs stupidity seemed even more overblown than ever, in the past hed say something silly that was also funny. in this he just had a stupid question for everything that was said in the whole episode.
i hope this will be the last of it, but at the same time im sad to see it go out on such a bad note... did the original writer(s) die or something? and his idiot son took over?

IMO, this episode dragged a classic BBC show down to the same level as any other modern sitcom. no style, class or effort involved.

Couldn't agree more, it should have ended after that episode. The last episode was terrible, hopefully its ended now and it wont drag on like the Simpsons

The best OFL's were the half hours with Del scamming etc, there was none of that, some very lazy writing i.e Rodneys film plot and Del and Rod thinking that Boycie has killed Marlene though there was one great line by Boycie:

"I've never been insulted all my life, you know how much I spent on that garden".

It has also become too family orientated. This is just my opinion but there was a steady decline after Raquel was introduced and also notice the lack of chemistery without Grandad and Albert.
