    Fenders are never muck.

Friend is buying a new guitar.
    Went window shopping.
Tried a Les Paul Studio through the same amp as a rake of Telecasters, and they all sucked complete balls put up against the LP.
    Weak, toneless sound.

You really gotta spend a lot of money if you want a nice Fender...

They are if they look tacky like those ones. Granted it probably plays really nice, but so do other Fenders that look better - i.e. I wouldn't buy one of those.

Sorry for the late reply. Been out in the sticks with crap baseband.

That first one looks very very odd to me. The body seems too long after the bridge, like someone forgot to cut it off or something. The specs are ok, set neck (strange on a Fender in my experience).

I can't base this on how they play cos I've never played one, but on looks, I'll have to pass on it. I'm not a massive Fender fan although the YJM signature model is starting to appeal to me.

Well it's all a matter of taste at the end of the day, as i said i'm a huge classic strat fan, but when i saw these babies i said oh man! sleek and smooth like a ferrari or sumpin:)

I love the standard strat triple single-coil set up, but i wouldnt mind having a strat armed with a pair of humbuckers either!

and naturally, add to that a Gibson, a Gretsch, a Jackson, an ESP, etc etc
oh well, i havent sold 60 million records yet so i'll just keep on daydreaming.

    (welcome back feylya :) )

oh man stop! it's too early in the day for that kind of excitement!:D

I picked up a Fender Frontline 2003 catalogue the other day, depressed the sh1t out of me! What beautiful creations.....

Be sure to pick up the latest issue of Guitar Player - it's got SRV on the cover - and a Strat special section (they dissect SRV's Number One! - only a few hundred "clones" will be made, retailing at $10,000 :dunno: )

Yeah, might stroll into town and get it. Need some new picks anyway. Gotta try those Jazz III picks. The new ESP range will be out soon. Mmmm. And the new Ibanez acoustic :)

Jazz III are truely the greatest picks of all time.

I'm hoping the local has the Jazz III XL's. Although, I'm prepared for the blank stare as always. They know nothing about guitars tbh.

Jazz III? Cant say i've heard of them....always been a green tortex man.

Me too but I moved into the 1mm d'addarios and then 1.5mm pickboys so I thought I'd try the Jazz III. Heard really good things about them.

Don't like them at all. Fender did similar (but different) things to the strat and the tele in the 80's too, before they copped on and just started making good strats and teles again. The American Standard does it for me.

I think part of the beauty of the typical strat and tele is that they're easy to f*ck around with and make your own (I'm trying to avoid saying "customise" but you know what I mean). :D
