Well, not cry, but as a fan of series 1 and 2 i was left very disapointed by this special (i should have known).
basically all that happened was the well known characters (craig david, Micheal Jackson etc) just spouted out their now trademark sayings. there were no new jokes or new ideas etc... and what made it worse was the special guests, i think the only celebrities that should feature in the show are ones that dont realise they are being slagged etc, now that he is pretty infamous in the UK this wont ever happen again, so i think he should move on to something new, if he can...

It makes me cry every time I'm unlucky enough to see it. Bo Selecta is the unfunniest "comedy" programme since The Fast Show. Constant repetition of stupid catchphrases every week hardly makes for cutting edge comedy. And don't get me started on the stupid masks...

The Fast Show was simply superb.

I think it's exactly like The Fast Show. Enjoyable for a season or so, and then it wears thin when it's the same catchphrases over and over and not much else.

piffle... since when does comedy have to be cutting edge? as far as im concerned bo selecta and the fast show are both very funny, although i felt the fast show was good right through, while bo selecta (from todays episode) is beginning to crack... but who knows, series 3 could be brilliant.
unfunniest is it? so you must have enjoyed the like of my hero, sams game, the cassidys, that stupid super-pc (and joke free )show with jasper carrott, and that other one my family or something.

I fail to see how not finding Bo Selecta or The Fast Show funny can automatically mean that I must find a bunch of other programmes funny. Some you've mentioned I've never heard of TBH, and of those that I have I can assure you I find them as painful as you do.

The standard of tv comedy is pretty poor in general at the moment, Scrubs and Coupling are about the only "sitcoms" worth watching in the last couple of years, but I think sketch shows are very much a matter of personal taste, and as far as my taste goes the standard in recent years hasn't been all that great. Big Train was about the best that I can think of right now. Smack the Pony and Goodness Gracious Me had their moments but that's about it.

Ah how easily we forget. What about Black Books? Spaced?

Both excellent sitcoms. Especially season 1 of Black Books.

I know they were meant to film series 3 of the summer (just, lol) passed, so my question is this... When the hell will series 2 be out on DVD?! :D

You do realise that they are making a version of it in the US - and to the best of my knowledge no cover-series has ever improved when it crossed the atlantic ...

Black books - anyone remember the estate agents as well

Ah, here you had me agreeing with you all the way up until you compared that crap to The Fast Show. Then you had to go and discredit yourself to any intelligent person.

i suppose it is, perhaps i found the fast show funny because i was alot younger when i watched it, to be honest i havent really seen it in a while. in its defence though, it have repetetive phrases etc, but it always had that little something that made you laugh, bo selecta had that, and seems to have lost it.

coupling sucks the big one, and for once i agree with US taste.
Black Books seems good although i still havent given it a good watching
i remember the estate agents, i think i liked that, but im not sure, who was in that, because i remember i watched it for a reason (there was a comedian in it i liked or something)
tom green has really gone downhill, like many things the joke just got old
i hate goodness gracious me (but i did like the going for an english sketch the first time, then after another 230 viewings i hated it)
smack the pony was good at the start but has since gotten very very poor
    spaced was brilliant
    so was big train
and scrubs rules!!! the greatest American show in many a year, i think it easily out-does friends, although only time will tell (just think, even if you like friends, the first series or two were quite poor while scrubs has been class from day 1. i am a medium fan of friends, but i love scrubs)

    just my 2 eurocent.

Was it the hour long episode on the Thursday?

I have to admit that at first I didn't like it. It was only after seeing 3 or 4 more episodes that I got into it.

funnily enough coupling was meant to be an english 'friends', and it was popular enough here that the US tried it out (a copy of a copy :))

Oh how I cringe when I hear this song on the radio/tv or even when some-one tries to sing it.

bo selecta was funny, .....WAS.... funny, now its nothing but a special edition double dvd box set marketing dream, i laufed when i saw mel b , "buy my nu boooook" but i cudnt sit through anything new, that ginger fella better create somthing new ,, otherwise........otherwise, eh,,,,,, he's dead.

i think he can do it, theres an easter egg on the series 1 dvd called keith lemons night out or something like that. it was a once off scetch that Leigh Francis (or Avid Merrion) did for E4, and it is quite funny.
if you have the dvd, this is how to get it:
when the menu starts up, let avid introduce the options etc, and just as he is finishing the bear will say 'oh no, my tails popped out!', as hes saying this, highlight the box he is in and you will be brought straight to the hidden clip...

    enjoy!

The fast show had its moments, but Bo Selecta is based on nothing more but celebrities atleast the fastshow had its own stuff which they made up.

Bo Selecta should be wipped from all video/dvd/archives and anyone who worked on it should be killed.
We need to erase this crime against comedy as soon as we can
