Well I've just noticed that when i open win explorer on my sisters pc the folder list on the left of the screen is just blacked out. Restarted and tried clicking folders on the toolbar but still no joy...

Anyone come across this before??.. Oh, I know "dump ME and all that but she won't have any of it"...

Just show her Windows XP ;)
I really don't know what people see in Windows ME, horrible horrible operating system, all the worst bits of 98 left in, and all the best bits taken out.

Restart in safe mode to rule out lots of stuff.

If you have already run the erd / eru utility the just restore the reg

    Hope she won't dump YOU

Well I tried what Capt said but it wouldn't run so I ran regrestore and it stuffed the whole thing up and now none of the proggies will run. So I decided to backup the HDD to another and format. I'm going to install Win98se instead.

I'll probably get bitchslapped but I think 98se is more stable anyway..

Thanks anyway.. Probably better this way:D

Open reg and make your way to:
    HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Update

Set the value back to 0 & reboot.

    Worked for two clients.

    Edge cheers..
but i was just recommending he change his os to win2k !

win me is well documentated as having serious flaws from design decisions such as:

    (1) flawed driver model
    (2) removing as much of 16bit layer as possible
