I bought 4 red hot chili peppers tickets today - they were 59.50 each . Now i don't mind this i would give my right arm to go see them. What really p1sses me off is the fae that Ticket master charged me, 5.50 service per ticket. that was 22 euro extra!

I even used the internet to buy them - what overhead have they on an electronic transaction. surely this should be a per transaction charge rather that a per ticket charge.
Better again there should be no charge at all.

There must be some price fixing between promotors like mcd and Tm.

Anyone remember the guys from Pearl Jam testifying before Congress, in the States, in a hearing against Tickmaster?
Of course they ruled in TM favor. Is it the same company in Ireland?

    One word - "typical".

This one has always got me- doesnt the advert for the tickets say price includes booking fee? The €5.50 per ticket service fee is for the credit card transaction. Now, the way I see it is that you should only pay one transaction fee per credit card transaction i.e. for the total amount not the individual amounts.

To make it easier, sometimes restaurants charge a credit card handling fee on the end of your bill, but its not per item of food/wine its a levy on the total amount. Same should apply in this case methinks and someone should seriously protest this to the powers that be considering the strangle hold TM have over the live music business in this country.

but if you pay at a ticket booth (e.g. the one in the stephens green s.c.) with a laser or credit card you don't have to pay the charge (although i think there was a 2euro per tecket 'handling' fee)

therefore the high cost on the net isn't valid at all. i can understand having a lower single transaction cost to cover the postage of the phoen net sales etc. something like 2euro a transation, but 5.50 a ticket is shocking!
