right, in a bit of a dilemma. im currently with o2 but they've gotten on my nerves recently and i want to switch to vodafone (better reception coverage). but my phone (Motorola V66i) is a second hand one that i bought off someone a coupla months ago. and when i went to get my unlocking code, they said they wouldnt do it. the original owner of the phone has to do it. thing is, i've no references of him, didnt think i'd need it at the time (well more didnt think of it at the time). so is there any way i ca get around this? or do i just have to ring up o2 and bribe/yell at them until they do?

Hmm i would still stick to O2 tho, 99% reception coverage now,

But why don't you just pretend that u are the owner? or get unlocking kit for the phone.

I have a problem with 02 is that I can't even get a reception in a pub right in the city centre.

all the operators have their coverage black spots :(

my worst experience living in the city centre was with Vodafone - would be unable to use the network at times on the weekends due to a capacity problem where I was living at the time

none of them are perfect - even if they do spend huge amounts of money trying to make out they are :)

Which in order to do, he will need to know at the least: The Owners Name, Address and DOB... and he has already said he has no details for him/her.

In fairness, its hardly "Stupid O2". Without sounding facetious, its kinda you that was to buy the phone without considering that this might happen? All* Pre-pay phones have been network locked since the launch of Ready To Throw about 6 years ago... Its pretty much common knowledge that you cant just get them unlocked by simply asking the network, i.e. that the phone must be yours and you must have met their criteria.

*.... Cant say anymore on that, sorry... ;)

right. now o2 have gone from being annoying (not unlocking things) to extra annoying (phone doesnt work). i switched networks only to find that i didnt have the unlock code for my phone (as above) and so i had to switch back. however my sim card wasn't reactivated. so i rung o2 on friday @ about 5pm and they said there was a problem with porting back and forth and etc etc and that'd my sim card'd work within 24hours again. well its this time now and it still just says "unregistered SIM" on the main menu/screen. no reception or anything. and its getting really annoying...can i call them stupid yet?

dont suppose this happened to anyone else no? damn karma...never helped me. ever...

You sometimes see signs offering to unlock phones... or go to a phone repair place, they might be able to do it on the sly...
