oh no, can you imagine a little rat bastard blowing into that all christmas morning. stay well away!!

Phone Walton's and if they don't have them they'll know another shop to try. You might also get one in that strange voodoo shop in temple bar ... can't remember where or the name, but it has all the touristy type things that you'd buy if you were travelling around asia/africa/south america. Don't know why they sell that stuff here though ...

no offence to your family btw ;)

There is a shop in Dublin Zoo at the African Plains section that sells them - supposed to be the real deal. They have a few other nice-looking instruments.
Zoo should be open right up to Christmas Eve but not sure about the shop.

When you are buying one, there is one big difference to look out for. Didgeridoo's are either "the real deal" or they are man made.

The real ones are hollowed out by termites and usually cost over €150, you can tell by putting your fingers inside and it should feel rough.

The man made one's are a length of wood that is split down the middle of it and each half is hollowed out with tools and then it is glued back together. You can tell these by the smoother inside and the split down the length of it (often the split is painted over to disguise it, but you can usually see it if you look closely). These ones should be much cheaper. I got one for €25 in England.

For a beginner the man-made one should be fine, and much cheaper.

I bought one of eBay last year - it was a company rather than an individual. Bloody thing had woodworm :D so the guy sent me another at no extra cost. Still can't do the circular breathing
