Ok you can all stop laughing now :p
We all know its a crazy shop that puts up its prices by atleast 20% compared to other shops.
    But here's abit of proof

This USB Stick/MP3 Player 256MB version is available from PC-Memory-Upgrade.co.uk (company based in Kildare) for €140 with free delivery.

Compustore are selling a 64MB version here in Waterford for....wait for it...wait for it.... €100

I like to go into the shop every so often to have a laugh at there prices.

I was in there yesterday as I wanted to check out some PDA's I had no intention of buying there for obvious reasons but I wanted to compare some of them up close. So I head down to the counter at the back where they have all this sort of stuff and spoke to the guy behind the counter who came across as no more interested in helping me than the man on the moon despite the fact that I was pretending to be interested in buying a PDA.

    This was the conversation

ME: I'm looking for a PDA and I'm wondering if I could look at a few.

Sales Guy: Uh Huh (while looking annoyed that I had disturbed him as he was counting his till up)

ME: (Pointing towards an IPaq) Can that one connect to a wireless network?

Sales Guy: No..... It cant (Still Frowning at me)

ME: Well can it take a wireless add on?

    Sales Guy: Yeah

ME: (in my best sarcastic tone) You're not really interested in selling one of these to me are you?

    Sales Guy: (Stares back blankly)

And that was the end of that I walked out and he made no attempt to offer to show me anything that I was interested in.

Well you know what they say if you pay peanuts you get monkeys as theyare all completley clueless in there and God help you if you need to ask any of them a techincal question.

I had a similar experience while looking for a laptop and pda there a few years ago. Nobody had the slightest interest in selling me anything, in spite of the fact that I was a clueless tech novice who was prepared to part with quite a lot of money on the spot...

I personally think they can sense when someone walks into the store that knows more then them, something to do with the training :p

I think they realise that we ain't going to buy from the overpriced shops

I agree... year after year it's always the same. Compustore are Overpriced and uneducated. However it's still worth walking in and examining the hardware you may get elsewhere cheaper etc. As mentioned they offer an un-intentional service for our benefit by browsering so you may get a feel for what you want. But of course goes without saying... don't bother paying a cent once you walk in the door.

    Hamster.

Screw you guys i work hard to help every customer i meet, i do not create the prices nor do i control the stock choice or level but if someone asks me a question i try my hardest to given them an answer or adivce. You try to work here day in and day out then you'll have the right to pass judgement on the staff and the shop. Technical questions, FFS, try find someone who knows everything about everything. I do get paid peanuts but work my ass off!
