    ok,
    i know that this probably isn't the correct forum to post this thread but..
    (I kinda got lost in the navigation up top :rolleyes: )

    i want to start using usenet (or newsgroups, whatever ya wanna call 'em), but i don't have any host addresses, and dont really have a clue what im at...
    im using Agent Newsreader and just dont kno wha to fill in to get goin in usenet...

    any help, greatly appreciated

    i kinda got connected to the boards server..
    but i keep gettin auth failures...
    i've entered the correct info..

    just go into your newsreader prog, input your isp's nntp server deelie, like : news.iol.ie or something, and it will ask do you want to download a list of usenet groups they support, of which you choose some to subscribe to that's it really

    the problem is that i dont know any hosts to look up :confused:
    any of ya's got good usenet hosts?

    just tried to connect to news.iol.ie and they an alert dialog came up sayin:
    "You have no permission to talk. Goodbye."
    at least it ALMOST worked :rolleyes:

    You have to be on an esat/iol IP to use news.iol.ie, they use snews.

    well, still lookin for a host that i can actually use.... :confused:
    im on eircom.. they gotta usenet thing...
    google groups dont let ya use usenet programs to open their newsgroups...
    and i think boards might do the same thing cause i couldn't get connected earlier...
    can anyone tell me if this is true?
    im still lookin for i host...?
