Apple iMac rip-off

Just another example of rip-off Ireland; a base level iMac at the Apple Store (Ireland) costs €1,399 but at the Apple Store (Hong Kong) it costs €1,070.31 (approx) - a saving of €328.69!

I know it is the Hong Kong store - but would it be possible to import the iMac from Hong Kong, and for it to still work over here?

(I used Hong Kong because of the link to CD WOW)

    Exactly. Then there is shipping!

Apple have historically used 110/220V switching power supplies meaning an Irish one would work fin ein the US and vice versa. Normally the good deals were got by bringing their laptops in from the states , next time someone you know goes over send them off to buy one for ya.

Hong Kong has virtually no sales tax (VAT).

However, Hong Kong is perfect for Irish electronics consumers.
    1. English official Language (and cantonese)
    2. 220V power
    3. British Standard power socket - no adaptors :)

I love Hong Kong - but be careful, Asian firms can be less trustworthy.
Thats why Asians buy laptops here and not at home.

virtually no sales tax though would make up though about 2/3 of the price difference originally stated. then i suppose we just have two different markets, i presume apple have no obligation to sell items for the same price in two different markets.
