Fibbers was (is?) one of those places that completely rocked every weekend, even though it's a complete dump.....haven't been there in years now...

Best memory is John (manager at the time) banging away with a plunger in the urinal, saying "Dunno why they couldn't puke in the sink like everyone else!".

    :D

Best memory is John looking confused when he discovered the smashed toilets as two lads hot footed it to that raised area above the dance floor wearing armoured MotoCross boots. That was a messy night...

Fibbers was good times. It all went downhill when they did it up.

Yeah Fibbers would good except for all the Rockers and Goth types. :D
I loved that place, then the assholes became comfortable there and I haven't been in two years. I heard rumours that it had gotten better and free again. Anyone know if this is true?

Apparently so. I was there between 1997 and 1999, when it was free in before 9 and was upstairs only. Downstairs was locked. The beer garden was slightly different too. We'd go into town by 8, get a naggen down us on that street that runs up alongside O Connell St and pop inside before it became £5 in. Then it was Snakebites all the way.

I remember being back there a few years later for somebody's birthday, and this rather ridiculous looking goth pointed out how "crazy" it was that a "norm" like me would be in Fibbers. That was when I knew it was no longer a place worth visiting.

Yeah every night is free in now in fibbers and it has started getting crowds again, it was totally dead in there for a while.
