A hyper active brain....i'm not super smart or anything i just can't shut it down when i get into bed.

Although if i go to bed during the day i'm asleep within about 20minutes...but at night it can often take over an hour.

I think the bigger question that should be answered is why do you want to stay awake?
If its a stupid answer, im locking the thread, same goes for no answer.
Im not going to be responsible, for an others possible idiocy.

Its not smart to stay awake too long...quite unhealthy infact

I can't sleep without a walkman. I have been listening to my walkman nearly every night ( the "nearly" is because I don't need to after a drink or two) and I can't sleep without it.
Although if i go to bed during the day i'm asleep within about 20minutes...but at night it can often take over an hour.
Stop sleeping during the day. And an hour awake is still a very short time for me.:o

Always thinking, can keep me up for hours, like it can be three or four hours of just lying there not sleeping, just thinking.

    A distraction like music helps.

Same with me... music doesn't help though, 'cos I start thinking about it in depth. I have to try and trick my mind and confuse it, by thinking 2 completely different things at the exact same moment, thereby nullifying my thoughts completely and calming my mind into thinking nothing :D

Or else I might be mildly insane! Hmmmmm

Mind Alert pills available from Tony Quinn are expensive but work. They have caffeine taurine, PABA and something else in them (DMAE?). Siberian Ginseng can help too and has the bonus of not stopping you get to sleep if you actually want to, as well as actually being good for you. Supposedly Russian cosmonauts used that stuff in their space program instead of amphetamines which were used by American astronauts. The quality varies a lot between different brands. FSC I think is one of the good types. Don;t remember the other brands I've tried off the top of my head.

Sometimes I get terrible nightmares, really bad ones, then I really don't want to go to sleep, so I drink coffey and eat chewing gum. Also I play alot of computer games when I'm tired. It's very hard to get back to sleep when you play computer games for a few hours.
