    Ji
Im thinking of buying a 20g apple ipod, anyone have one, ??
I have only read positive reviews to date, however I did read somewhere that the battery is not replaceable and that the unit is obsolete when the battery is no longer rechargeable.

how long does it take to copy to, is it an issue using windows?

    thx in Advance

For me, the iPod is a classic case of style over substance. The Jukebox Zen NX or Extra and iRiver offer much better value for money. A 30GB Zen NX costs the same as a 10GB iPod and has better sound quality. The iRiver has even better sound, although it is priced similarly.

    Hi super_furry

Thx for the advice, I did manage to clear up the battery issue tho' , a replacement is available for around 60 squid.

Does the ipod have any EAX audio that makes different conditions to the sound like making it sound like its in a concert hall or sound levelling or anything like that?

am thinking of going for the zen

There's no eax or other processing on it that i know of, bar an equalizer with some presets. Personally, although some processing can liven up one song, i find it gets tiresome after a listening to a few songs, they all end up sounding the same.

I wouldn't go quite as far as saying "classic case of style over substance", which implies little "substance", which isn't the case with the ipod. There's substance there all right, it's just overpriced.

The ipod's sound quality isn't as bad as i've seen made out. The ipod doesn't offer as much base as other units (turning the base up in an ipod makes it sound dull), however the rest is in the same league as the other players i've listened to (zen, nomad, minidisc, rio, not listened to iriver tho). Sounds with high attack (drums, or any instrument where something hits another hard surface) were rendered well on the ipod i listened to. The ipod has resonable volume, good sound quality but lacks heavy base. If you want to blow your head off with a walkman look elswhere.

The interface on the ipod is top class in my opinion, the touch sensitive wheely-thingy makes browsing albums etc real handy.

    The price is the stinger.
