I've been looking around Galway and Ennis for a decent pair of runners lately, but the only decent one's are way too over-priced.

Are there any good online-shoe shops around?

I'm browsing through schuh.co.uk atm, free delivery for Christmas too :)

I bought a pair of runners from kswiss.com for $70, with an additional $50 delivery charge to Europe. $120, which I thought was a reasonable enough price considering I find it a such an inconvenience to buy shoes in Dublin due to my shoe size. I got some shock when a U.P.S (?) van pulled up outside my house one morning and told me I owed him €50 for delivery. The site never mentioned there would be a c.o.d too. I thought that I'd paid for all delivery costs when I paid the $50 at the time of ordering.

Not with shoes but this extra delivery charge has hit me twice from us companies.
I paid what i thought was full delivery and then got a bill from a courier.
Second time i refused to pay it as i had paid delivery up front (otherwise what was the delivery charge for?) And also i had sent an email asking about this after the first time it happened and was told thats all the charges there were.
Then i got a solicitors letter from the courier (UPS).
Just threw it in the bin and heard nothing since.
Won't order from the US ever again though.
My advice for shoes, Go to the hypermarkets next time you're in the uk.
Better still go on a holiday to Orlando and visit the NIKE outlet some morning while there.

Ouch! Talk about puttin yer foot in it! Tho that sounds very dodgy - maybe the driver was scammin' ya? Did you contact UPS 'bout it?

    It is what it's.

No, I didn't. In retrospect I really should have.

The kswiss site is absolute bullzhit. When I tried to order the runners, it kept telling me it was unable to process the order. So on my fifth attempt of ordering, it finally went through. The following day, when I clicked on the page to show where my order was it told me I had ordered 5 pairs. I hurriedly scoured the site for an option to cancel the other 4. There was no option to modify orders online, and they were going to be shipped the next day. I had to ring America, and spent over two hours being transferred from one apartment to the next just to speak to someone. When I finally got through to someone, they were the most slow-witted, overly elated hillbilly American that I've had the misfortune to talk to. They repeatedly asked me why I ordered five pairs when I only wanted the one.

YES - they do collect VAT on imported goods.
BUT - I thought clothes and shoes (& tampons) had a VAT rate of 0%

    One pair of KSwiss: €450
Calling a friend in the States: €50
The convenience of internet shopping: priceless.
There are some things money can't buy, for everything else - there's Mastercard :p

    It is what it's.

Well the fact that i got a solicitors letter kinda convinced me it wasnt just the driver.

UPS told me that they charge the courier price COD and the companies charge P&P which is really just Packaging.

Not fair though since you dont know before you buy whether you get a courier who wants €5 or €50 for their services and you cant choose.

Found a couple of sites now - Mostly UK.

    http://www.shoe-shop.com
    http://www.kateskates.co.uk
    http://www.rollersnakes.co.uk
    http://www.extremepie.com

There's a much better selection online (would be better if I was living in England - free delivery on most sites). Delivery to Ireland goes from £10 to £15 :/.
