Would anyone be able to give me info on finding accommodation in australia, espically sydned for about three months. What are the legalities involved, e.g. lease and the like.

No idea, never been there, perhaps try a long stay hostel or something. Will copy this over to travel.

I am currently in Sydney and the following has been my experience:

It is relatively easy to find shared accomadation, expecially in 'backpacker' areas such as Bondi, Bondi Junction (particulalry popular with zee Irish), Coogee (English) and also Newtown and Glebe. All are well connected to the transport with Bondi Junction and Newtown on the train line. On the flip-side Bondi and Coogee benefit from fantastic beaches. (Bondi Junction is a great compromise but is FULL of GAA shirted Irish! - stay away if you are getting away from it all so to speak)

Check out youth-hostel notice boards, internet cafe boards etc for plenty of adds. Also the Sydney Morning Herald on a Wednesday (I think) ... http://www.smh.com.au ...

Places are generally well below what you might expect in Ireland (approx. Irish Student standards if you catch my drift) but hell you ain't here for too long. You will come across the odd person who has a palace but they are in the minority so don't expect the same.

Often a 2 week to 4 week bond is required along with rent in advance.

Plenty of largish share houses around too - shared facilities with your own lockable room.

Finding a place of your own is a little harder, agencies are generally not backpacker friendly and most places are unfurnished - so you have to fork out for furniture, pack in enough of your mates and it can be a lot cheaper.

    Average rents - A$75 - A$120 a week.
