KEM cards = Proper Poker Cards

On wednesday night we gathered around to play hold'em,
got all the chips out and stacked when we realised that we
had destroyed last weeks cards with a beer spillage.

We scoured the house we were playing in and all we could come
up with was a terrible set of souvenir 'titanic' cards from malta..!

Nothing worse than not being able to even shuffle your cards
let alone having to look at kate winslett and leonardo.

Terrible night anyway and i lost (probably as a direct reslut of
the cards, at least that's my excuse and im sticking to it!)

So I was looking to pick up some KEM cards (these are the best,
longest-lasting, plastic (washable) cards), to avoid another disaster
    like the titanic one.

looked on ebay and various other sites
Ebay had them for around 22 GBP for a double box set not including shipping...
    see me
    mercy...

So i went to visit the KEM-Cards website yesterday,
found a dealer in Ireland here

Visited him yesterday evening in dun laoighre
and picked up a wide, superindex double set for 30 euros all in.
He's got loads of stuff... chips, all the cards and box sets with both

If anyone is looking to pick up chips or cards you should
look him up and buy irish!

cant' wait till poker night next week.

From that link the guy looks like he is in Rathfarnham? What kind of chips does he have - didn't see any on the website?

my own set of 11.5grm clay poker chips arrived this morning,
cost me 100 euro including delivery from the UK, 300 chips in 5 colours and 2 packs of quality cards,

anyone know how much the chips from this kem website cost, apparently you need a login to find prices and purchase stuff.

Do your chips have number values on them? Where did you buy them?

he lives in rathvarnham but works from Dun L

    dunno about the chips,
i think it was like 70 quid or something
    with the cards...

they are clay but numberless i think?

drop him an email and see.

definitely cheaper than anywhere around town.

Nope, no number values on them, got them from this website the 300 chip value pack. £71 sterling for chips and delivery by www.parcelforce.com, ordered them on sunday night last, and they arrived this morning.

Anywhere I looked elsewhere were far more expensive. www.oksports.ie were much dearer for similar chips, and any where else in the UK or US would have cost about €140+ for the same chips and delivery.

Picked up my own double pack of KEM cards off this guy last night. Worth every penny - €30. Then went online to win the €30 back - won €150, so a good night all round.

I had a quick look at the cards and they are silky smooth - a joy to shuffle and they just glide out of your hand when dealing. A step up.

€30 for 2 packs of cards? I never thought that the quality of the cards you play with made that much difference..
How are they different/better than the cards you buy for €2.50 in the local shop?

    a) they're heavier and nicer to shuffle,

    b) they are 1/4 inch wider than normal cards (poker size)

    c) They are plastic, so you can spill beer, bend them and they
will (almost) always retain their shape and can last for years
    and years and years...

    d) they are just the dogs. if you loose say the 10 diamonds,
you can just order the 10 diamonds for 90 cent...

Among other things you can get super-index pictures which
is just much nicer... like in a real casino..

Before I got my set of KEM card - yesterday -lol, I always used real casino cards from Vagas - actual cards that were used in the hotels etc. These cards were brilliant and are heavier than the KEM cards but they are made to be disposable and hense dont wear very well - bend corners, grubby, and eventually get sticky. The KEM cards are made to last. They feel much lighter (to me anyway) and have a very high sheen factor - which makes them easier to clean and easier to use.

Of course they come with a high price tag - €15 a deck but if you play as much poker as I do then you will win out in the end.

GF's parents are over from France, they are card plaing mad. Decided to go for the KEM cards. Phone the Rathfarnam this morning (Sat 27th), he tells me he isn't going back to work until January but he might be near the office later on. Two hours later he is at my door with a set of Super Index. Now that is service. The cards are fantastic.

Personalised chips anyone? Check out www.casinosupplies.com they also have plain and numbered 11.5g.
