This Saturday ( 13.12.2003) will be two years since Master Lord Chuck Schuldiner died - so remember to have a cold brew to honor his memory.

    Let the metal flow!

I saw Death once, on the Human tour, and it remains to be one of the greatest gigs I've ever been to.

Then there was the time Death was supposed to support Kreator after Spiritual Healing came out and I went to the Top Hat in high expectaion of two truly great bands kicking major ass :D Unknown to us, Chuck had pulled out of the tour at the last minute, but Terry Butler and Bill Andrews had decided to do the tour anyway, without Chuck, and got a couple of other guys (whose names escape me at the moment) to play guitar and sing. They were pretty entertaining, but there was bad blood and Terry and Bill went around doing interviews saying Chuck was finished, etc. It was a huge disappointment.

Then, when Human came out, it was unlike anything which had come before. Hindsight is great, but the impact that album had should never be underestimated. Just listen to Spiritual Healing and Human back to back to hear the difference, the progress!!! I still remember the day I bought it in the Sound Cellar (got Atheist's Unquestionable Presence too, 'twas a great day :D ) putting it in my walkman and listening to it on the bus home, totally speechless. A lot of people had written Chuck off, even the likes of Trey Azagthoth and James Murphy had been slagging him in interviews, but Human shut them all up. Just read the liner notes, where he says Human is "more than just an album, it is revenge".

R.I.P. Chuck: a genius and a really nice guy too.
