"Live Sh*t: Binge and Purge" has been released on region 2 DVD. 3CD's containing a full show from Mexico on the black album tour and 2 DVD's, one from the Black album tour and one from near the end of the AJFA tour.

I can take or leave the Black album stuff, but the AJFA show is really, really top class, back when they were the very best around. Damn near brought a tear to me eye ;)

Play that and then play the Stanger DVD and then tell me if they're new stuff is any good :D

    I can tell you already

    St Anger - tripe
    Pre Black album - brilliant
Black album - shades of things to come
Load and Re-Load - the eternal nightmare coming full circle

    ;)

i wouldn't actually mind owning this.. but my opinion of metallica has dropped so much in the last year or so.. I can't even listen to them any more

I have to say I neevr was a huge fan of metallica, but I owuld listen to them now and again, but after St Anger their not even on my playlist at all......

I have Live **** and I can tell you it is pure class. St. Anger wasn't the best no but I think it was designed to keep new fans happy because lets face it theres a new Metallica album out there and to bring in new fans who like nu-metal etc.

They talk it up big even now but they only play Frantic and St. Anger on their set.

I think St Anger is fine, Fair enuff it aint near as gud as their other **** but it still is gud :(

They've started playing The Unnamed Feeling too. Sounds damn cool too. Can't wait til they start playing Sweet Amber and Invisible Kid :D

As for LS:BP, I imported it about 3 years ago. It is bloody cool. I love the Seattle gig and the Scary Guy stencil is cool. Waiting to get that engraved into some brushed aluminium :)

I'd rather not post the list. I'm sure there's some rules/laws that be called into play if I did. If you want them, I'll talk to ya tomorrow about it.

I was actually at the AJFA tour in the Top Hat(those were the days)brilliant gig and the chap who started this post is right.....they were at the height of the scene thenand it was intense stuff...have never seen anything to match it...i can only describe it as a Titanic performance, one which i will long and fondly remember, right at the height of the scene.

In reality no other band has matched Metallica and of course Slayer when they were at their height of Metal. And its very doubtful anybody will.

Legends the two of them, Slayers still keeping it old school respect, but you have to show Metallica respect too because without these too particular bands, Metal would be no where as big as it was/is now

    bye now!

like so many fans of metallica's early albums (kill'em all, ride the lighting, jfa, mop and the black ) i think their latest album is muck, they sold the music down the jacks, any ole **** to bring the money in , they're gone too commericalised trying to spread themselves over a wider audience. but i will always be a fan.
    ROCK ON METAL HEADS!!!!!!!!!!

There is, of course, the possibility that Metallica just aren't capable of producing quality material anymore, regardless of their commercial stance. They don't live the same way, they don't think the same way... how could they ever come up with similar music?

By the way, your sig is not strictly illegal. The rules say "Please don't use [#QUOTE] tags" - its more of a suggestion, rather than a demand.

this topic has been done to death.

Metallica Were good, however they are still good live. End of discussion.

The irony of bootleg talk on a metallica topic board is deadly :) just wanted to point that out...

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Ah, lovely irony. Metallica have started releasing free gig recordings though don't forget. You do have to buy St Anger to get them though.

And I believe my sig is now legal.

    LoL Feylya, good work :)

I must agree. The new solos in Frantic and Dirty Window are pretty cool. Short but cool.
