Taxi Fairs already going up for Christmas

Just wanted to vent about the fact that here in limerick taxi companies like swift (313131) have already jacked up their fares by €2 for the christmas.

So the ordinary person who gets a taxi to work or sends their kids to school in a taxi is going to get burned for the next three weeks. What harm it is these customers who are the ones keeping them in busines for the rest of the year.

I can understand them charging extra on sundays and bank holidays and christmas day and new years day but its only the 6th of december. christmas is three weeks away.

by the way Set price (414141) is going up by 1 euro (i think) on monday

Swift (or "Fixed price" as they used to call themselves for 11 monhs of the year) used to go on the meter for December and part of January. If anything I'm pleased that they've jacked this in (it used to be about a fiver to get from town to Castletroy on the meter as opposed to £2.50 at the regular price). Treaty always used to add a pound on to the fare during December (they couldn't meter as they were hackneys)

I'm not saying it's not a rip-off because they've always done it (though they have always done it - at least since 1993. Dunno about before then, though Treaty cabs were the first fixed price per journey operation in Limerick and they only started in 1992)

you would be lucky to get from bedford row to punches cross for a fiver now.

bedford row to rahen industrial estate can cost €10 on the meter and with the jacking up of the price its now 12 euros

To be honest I can understand them jacking up the prices for christmas shoppers given that the traffic can be murder at christmas time and they would get fewer fares because of it.

what my gripe is that there wouild be the same amount of traffic taking people to work in december as there would be in october november and january as there would be in december so why charge the extra fare to these people
