I was given a shot of depo in March but had a bad reaction. It's like I've got PMT every day. I have never used contraception before or since. My period stopped after using depo. They returned in July. The days between the start of each period have been:- 10, 15, 17, 21, 14, 20, 13, 26 and 11. I think I'm going crazy. Does anyone know when I can expect to return to a normal 28 day cycle?

For heaven's sake, go see your GP.

    go to the doctor.

it can be normal for your period to come to a halt due to injections and when you come off them they can be erratice but going by th enumbers you gave this has been an issue for at least the last 4 to 5 mnth so go see your doctor.

Thanks Thaed. I have been to doctor but I was just told that it would take a few months to get back to normal. I just wondered if anyone else had a similar reaction.

It can take upto a year for depo provera to work out of your system and in some cases years.

Your best bet is to start on the pill. When I came off depo provera I went straight onto the pill and it normalised my periods straight away. The pill I went on at the time was yasmin but I came off it due to other issues. I am now on microlite.

Thanks for advice from everyone about starting on pill. I didn't know the pill could help. Also, thanks to b3t4 for info about depo remaining in system for so long. I was beginning to think it was just me. I'm a bit worried about going on the pill because I suffer with migraine and a few years ago my GP advised against it. However, if things don't improve soon I will definitetly go back to GP about going on the pill. Thanks again, I feel much better about things now.

    FYI .

Migraine is almost totally psychosomatic, since there are no nerves (and hence no sensation) in the brain.

You could plunge a knife straight into someone's brain and they'd never feel a thing.
