    Need to get revenge....

My neighbours are possibly the noisiest weirdos ever. I can handle loud music, but when it starts happening every night around 4am, it just gets really annoying.

& to make matters worse, it's horrible horrible music.....Joe Dolan, or the Irish Tenors live album.....on repeat......really loud.........4 in the morning......& them all singing along......singing along very very badly......

We're students. We make noise too, although not that much cuz we don't have anything that'll play music that loud. Anyone got any good revenge tactics????

Get someone to Deliver 40 piazzas to their house..

    Call the cops...........

Play loud music on one of their quiet night ins.....(but then you will be fighting fire with fire)..........

Ring their door bell every 20 minutes to disturb their peace.

    Get ear plugs......

To be honest, just talk to them about the problem and say if it persists you will call the cops....only way to solve it.....

You try and get revenge, it might get worse.....

Pour petrol in their letter box, thrown a bow of matches in (unlit of course)
and nail a dead rabbit to their door.
Write something simple in the rabbits blood, like 'Keep it down please'.
Don't be rude about it or they'll think it's just teenagers.

Install a security light, which for no obvious reason is directed at their bedroom window! Then time the ****er to turn on and off every 10 minutes are so... and the rest the gardai can sort out!

    Seriously though ...

We're in the same sort of position. Doesn't seem to be as chronic as your situation but nevertheless it seems to be an issue that needs addressing. And when I say addressing I mean legislation. Gardai can do nothing - they've no power in this matter. We've investigated all avenues and there's nothing that can be done without having to take out some sort of legal action. Even then you supply your own evidence and it boils down to your word against theirs.

It's devastating having shelled out major spondoolicks for a house only to have noisy, nuisance neighbours which you can (legally) do virtually nothing about. We went as far as installing our own soundproofing which does help but when they are being completely unreasonable with their home cinema/hi-fi there's zero you can do about it.

It really does seem to be an increasing phenonmenon almost certainly linked to the structure and make up of newer houses. I've looked at the building regulataions and there's sod all mention of any specific decibel level to which party walls must contain.

we had the same problem and a trip to the court house last year solved the problem once and for all.
They are not allowed to play any music or have their tv up load at all anymore.
if they want a party they have to clear it with us now and we say yeah or neagh and what time its over
Now WE are the neighbours from hell instead of those noisy bastards.
They are even selling their house now because they cant have parties etc. :)
True the police cant do anything, but you need them as witnesses. if you make a complaint they have to call up to you. Insist on this because they'll try and fob you off but thats not allowed.
You need them to call so they can hear the music etc at ****ty times. When they hear it they are witneses and it goes in their notebook.
Write down every time their was a problem in the last however long even if it goes back 3 years. keep a special notebook for this.
Go to the court house and you'll get a date.
Your neighbour is told what date too and has to turn up.
If there are neighbours that hes annoying on the other side bring them along too.
    Now heres the best bit.
People hate noisy ignorant ****ers, judges despise them for making normal peoples life a misery.
You'll win hands down and the neighbours will be told that its quiet or jail.

Mostly in our neighbourhood we just talk it through.

    Sometimes talking doesnt work

We talked it through a lot of times.
The guy would be saying 'im so sorry for keeping you awake until 6 am last night. i know i'm the neighbour from hell and i promise not to have anymore parties'
Then that night there would be another one and he's saying sorry next day again.

After about 3 midweek parties a week starting at 2am and ending at 6 or 7am we had enough.
The next step was to lose it completely with him, but if you do that you undermine yuour case. it makes you the bad guy.
So we went to court and it was so easy compared to whjat we thought it would be

    DaithSurfer,
Heartened to hear that the system does actually work. Problem is that we're having a problem getting Garda(í) up to the house. We're within the Tallaght catchment and they've more pressing things to attend to. By the time they arrive, it's usually over. We have kept a log of events and we do ring the station everytime so they have a record too. We've got the community officer engaged as well. We realise that all we need is for them to witness it once and we're home safe. Problem is that this may never happen. Solicitor has offered to do this but they probably wouldn't be considered entirely objective witnesses. We do have witnesses by way of other neighbours and an on site security guard. We really need a Garda though.

The guards have to send a witness who will testify all the calls they have received from you. This should be enough to do the trick. The judges will be sympathetic to your case
