Can anyone help me name this cartoon or its animator/creator.

It was on tv in the 80's.
It was very short (typical episode was about 5 minutes).
I think it may have been Italian in origin.

It started out with a blank screen. You would see the animators hand (realistic) appear with a pencil and he would start with a straight single line for the base.
He would then draw in the character (just a single line outline). The character had a big roundish nose.

The charcter would then typical start walking along and have a little adventure.
    For example:
He would start walking and come to a wall. He would turn to the camera and start giving out to the animator about the wall. You would see the animator hand appear again with a pencil, he would rub out the wall with his hand and draw in a door.
The character would walk through the door ...................

It always ended with the character falling into a hole or something and disappearing off the screen. The animators hand would appear again and write THE END or FIN.
