Tech Shopping in London

I'm off to London this Saturday (supporting my club Newtownshandrum in the All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Quarter-final).

I'm looking for a good MP3 Player (Philips preferably), would anyone be able to recommend a good store in London Town or somewhere near Tube stop anyhow.

The model I'm looking for (Rush SA 230) is not available in Ireland, not until after Christmas, but I want to get it for a Christmas present for my GF, so I'm hoping that there is some mega huge tech store bang in the middle of London with good range and prices.

    So any suggestions?

What if I can't find that particular MP3 player anybody got an suggestions, this is what I want:
    • Small/Light
    • 128 or 256 MB
    • FM Radio
    • Good Name Brand
    • €150ish pricetag

I guess the Creative Rhomba would fall into this category.... any ideas?

    Edit:
    [Typo] 'Rhomba' was 'Rhumba'

Tottenham Court Road at the top of Oxford Street is the home of electronic shops, must be 30 or so both side of the street, about 5 minutes walk from here is a very good Richer Sounds in Holborn

Tottenham Court Road tube stop, the exit to the tube comes out at the top of Oxford street, to the left of the top of Oxford street is Tottenham court rd.

Let us know how u get on

If you are going to Tottenham Court Road make sure that :

    (a) you scour the shops - they all have different prices etc etc and can be hard to pin down,
    (b) have a good idea of what you want and what its price is - some of the TCR prices are high eg ASK electronics.

My experience of TCR is somewhat old at this stage, but I lived in London back in 1995. When I was there I found a very high shyster ratio on that street. Prices were better than Ireland at the time, but not great. With the high price of Sterling at the moment, would you not be better off buying online?

Have to agree with this - TCR was the business 20 years ago by all accounts, but I never saw any great stuff there in the 90's..
