an uncharacteristic attack on his players.

The Frenchman usually defends his players to the hilt but on Thursday he told the Daily Echo: "They have got to know they have a responsibility. A responsibility that only men can have.

Uncharacteristic??? Bull**** - he's the worst coach in the premiership for scapegoating players. He never accepts responsibility when they lose, it's always someone else's fault.
"In crucial areas of the game we were not professional."
Whose responsibility is the level of professionalism at a club? Generally it's meant to start with the Manager but I guess when the manager never accepts any responsibility himself why should the players.

He's only done it once!! To Stevie Gerrard last season and it worked. Note his continual (flawed) defence of Heskey or Fowler during the sniffing the line incident at Everton. I am bloody glad he's put in a dig at the players.

He's done it to Dudek and Owen too. In his roundabout way he always refers to players failings rather than his own.

He's always blaming someone else. The way he treated Dudek last year (runner up in Man Utd POY) was a disgrace. Gave the lad "full" support then dropped him like a stone.

If Pool give away a penalty it's someone else's fault, if they fail to score it's someone else's fault yada yada.

Look at the way he treated Roy Evans?

(Those with long memories will remember when he failed to get France to WC 1994. He blamed Cantona for that despite only getting one point from last two qualifying games, both in Paris, v Israel and Bulgaria)

Actually those with long memories will remember him blaming not Cantona but Ginola who tried a shot in injury time during the qualifier against Bulgaria instead of running into the corner as instructed. The Bulgarians then went up the other end of the pitch and scored. He called Ginola acriminal after it. Anything else you would like to be taken to school on today?:D

The thing is that he bought most of those players. That says it all really.

Definitely, he is obviously not without blame but the players are the ones on the pitch. Fair enough, GH put out an inexperienced defence and no Gerrard, Kewell or Owen but I would have been better than Diao and a few others last night. I think a kick in the arse wouldnt do them any harm at all..

I'm pleased with the style he's trying to adopt, but there's no excuse for th efact they are still short players in keyt areas 6 yrs into the 5 yr plan as pointed out already

Technicaaly its 5 years into a 5 year plan as acording to GH the first year with evans as a co manager doesnt count.

he is on his way out with a shortlist already drawn up but we will have to wait the till the summer for it to happen. ;)

I was delighted that he was so angry after the match. As I said in the other thread he didn't look a very happy bunny in the post match conf. The reason I was pleased with what he said is because it was the truth and usually he backs his underperforming signings. I'd say the players felt the heat this morning when they arrived in and I doubt (as so many of ye are saying) that GH felt the heat after last night because it was obviously the lack of decent performances on display that took the headlines in the club this morning.

That is all for now :)
