Is it not Asian Dub Foundation?

excellent, some political angst to compliment the arthouse s***... :D

I think i'm going to give up on Radiohead, too much hard work, i'd rather enjoy my music. Who still has Hail to the Thief in their cd player? (doesn't count if your going to the gig, as your probably doing a bit of last minute cramming)

  • Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 18,003 Mod ✭✭✭✭ixoy

Just came from the gig - excellent stuff. 2 hours of play and a selection of songs from all their albums (bar "Pablo Honey" - but that's not surprising). Very good buzz (as is usual at their concerts) and Johnny - you're a God. Hope everyone else enjoyed it.

Ah, f***ing amazing show, incredible. I'll go into more detail when I get the chance.

I'm going to tomorrow's gig aswell, so I'll see you there. If you don't have a ticket; get one now, they're back onsale.

Sounds good :) Asian dub foundation were support, right? They're great live. Going with mates to tonights show, can't wait!

Arrived just in time to see ADF's gear being hauled off stage. Damn Port traffic...

Anyway, two hours of greatness it was. The May shows were better, but I think the Point being a soul-less pit of hellish proportions has a lot to do with that.

I'm tempted to go to tonight's show, even if only to see ADF (and in the hope they'll play The Bends...)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,754 ✭✭✭Big Chief

they never played anything from the bends then? :(

im going to tonights gig, really up for it now although real pity to hear they played nothing from the bends which i thought was one of the greater albums
Who still has Hail to the Thief in their cd player

not a massive fan of Hail to the thief i must admit yeh, still prefer there older stuff if i was to be truthfully honest..

Yeah, they played Just and Fake plastic Trees. I thought they seemed really old when playing them though. They're really come a long, long way since then.

They played "Spinning Plates" and it sounded much better live than it did on Amnesiac. In fact all of the Kid A and amnesiac are miles better live than their album versions.

Great Gig, a little more HTTT-centric than the last one I went to in the Olympia earlier in the year, was really looking forward to 'Sail to the Moon' and 'We suck young blood', (just to see if the crowd could have gotton the clapping right!), but unfortunatly, they left them out.

Yorke took the stage on his own for 'I Will' which was special.

'Go to sleep' was great... "...something big is gonna happen....Over my dead body..."

Yorke was excellenty animated during some songs...

    My thoughts are misguided &
    A little naive
    I twitch & salivate
    like with myxomatosis
You should put me in a home or you should put me down
    I got myxomatosis
    I got myxomatosis

After last night, I tend to beleive him. :D

I still listen to HTTT regularly, great album for our time and a natural enough progression for the band after Kid A and Amnesiac. Hope they keep it up.

Anyone get a track listing? There was one song in one of the encores I didn't recognise and I could tell from crowd response that not many other people did either. Lovely piece of music.

All in all, great concert. plyd radiohead.

Ah 'twas great. It was nice to hear How to Disappear Completely but I was a bit disappointed that True Love Waits and Street Spirit were left out...

All in all though an amazing concert. I just can't decide whether Meat Loaf on Tuesday or Radiohead on Wednesday was better :/

i think that song in the encore you meant was spinning plates...its off amnesiac and everyone around me knew it, i think they were just blown away by how amazingly beautiful it is live. and they hardly ever do it live to so it was a bit of a surprise :)

What can I say...... shocked..... I've seen them three times already this year but that was amazing, and pulling it off in a souless venue like the Point too...

However, just before We suck young blood... did he really mean what he said about calling it a day? He said the industry was gone to hell and now was a good time for them to get out???

Just got back from tonight's show, bloody amazing once again. The setlist was completely different, so it was totally worth going to the two shows.

New songs played tonight (over Wednesday); Creep, The Pyramid Song, Hunting Bears, We Suck Young Blood, The Bends... :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 857 ✭✭✭kamobe

    Can you say...... Creep? :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 97 ✭✭Tray

Absolutely stunning!!! Highlights all over the place, with tracks from HTTT and Amnesiac sounding sublime performed live. Not that I didnt like the albums mind you- they are hugely underated IMO. Sail to the Moon, Pyramid Song, How to disappear completely, Idioteque, 2+2=5, We suck young blood and National Anthem were all spectacular. And what can you say about There, There, Creep, Paranoid Android and the incomparable Everything in its right place?? Well done lads, in a year of great gigs that was one of the best. Im a bit worried about what Thom said about quitting the music industry for a while though...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,831 ✭✭✭Lucutus

Excellent set list, would have liked to have been there for 'You and whose army' and 'We suck young blood', should have went to both...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,754 ✭✭✭Big Chief

all i can say is WOW!

absoloutley fantastic gig, they are one band who i have always wanted to see live but always just "missed out" for different reasons, and after a lengthy wait to finally see them they sure as hell did'nt dissapoint.

    amazing to say the least...

set list was ace aswell i thought, although after hearing they played fake plastic trees on wed night i was a little dissapointed not to hear it, but certainly didnt get me down as they belted out most of my favourites anyway..

played radiohead, i was one happy chappie after last night

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 241 ✭✭drane2

Creep was actually disappointing. It was such a painful through-the-motions rendition. Jonny didn't even play the piano part at the end. I think it's got to the stage now where they don't hate the song anymore, but they don't particularly like it either, but just play it because they know people want to hear it. I mean, you could see Thom turing around and laughing at Phil as he was counting in time.

The only highlight of the gig for me, which made it worthwhile in it's own right, was Big Ideas. I thought it was really great the way Thom just started playing it without saying a word, and everyone just went dead silent. Oh and the very end of Everything In It's Right Place was excellent.

I'm actually glad I got Wed's "My Iron Lung" over Thursday's "Creep" 'coz "Creep" is over-played and nowhere near their best material. And watch Johnny Genius go on that guitar for my Iron Lung. What a guy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,831 ✭✭✭Lucutus

'My Iron Lung' on Wed was great, loved the way they sped up the chorus/heavy parts, but still kept it really tight between them and then back down in tempo for the verse.

    Class.

I didn't really dig the setlist for last night. They played too many electronica album tracks imo. Creep was a surprise.
It wasn't a patch on the Olympia gigs over the summer, but then it's hard to top a small intimate gig like they were.

    :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

I could have went to both concerts but was away at work in cork and got to none
looking at my unused ticket now, depressing stuff................need to kill has risen!

This setlist is wrong actually. Ditch In Limbo and add Sail To The Moon and you're right.

Absolutlely fantastic one of the best gigs I've been at. Il oved when we all got to sing Karma Police after they had finished.
Just was superb and Johnny Greenwood is an amazing guitarist.
    :)

Went on thursday. What a gig :D:D

Their last three albums are what it's all about imo, I for one prefer the 'electronica' albums to the point where I could have done without creep, the bends, etc. (would have like'd to have heard Iron Lung though).

...so anyway... are they out of the music business or what? Very passionate speach I thought.

Went to radiohead on the wednesday night, thought they were fantastic! Espesially enjoyed The Gloaming and Like Spinning Plates :) ! Wish I'd gone to both nights now, would like to have heard the speech! Oh yeah, the lights and visuals were brilliant too!
