Dependable Installer North County Dublin

Anybody know a dependable installer on the North side?

The guy from Satellite TV, Swords, has not showed up for the second time now, first time I was waiting for him he called my voicemailbox directly to leave a message so he did not have to talk to me in person.

Tony declined giving a quote, on the basis that he does not serve north side because there are no dependable installers there, I could not believe any company turning down business, but clearly he had a point. :)

What's wrong with this country when customer service is at such a low level, and installers can basically give you the finger as they rule the show, while we have to pay and keep shut.

Is it too much to ask to have an installer work *together* with you to find the best solution for your needs by understanding that customers also have lives and jobs, and that each case is unique and we are the ones that will depend on the solution for years to come, and will be looking at the installed dish(es) and cables every single day.

Ok now I got that off my chest, anybody who has had better experiences on North side, please let me know :)

Why dont you install yourself lowlands. Its easier than you think and you'll save some cash too. Just requires a little patience...

Have thought about doing it myself, but I want the job done right :) and although I pull off the odd DIY job, I don't think I would make a good sat installer (or so my wife tells me ;) ) besides I would need specialist equipment that would only be used once.

Funny you mention money, because that was not even an issue here, I would gladly pay more to get good professional service.

Maybe installers consider every install to be fixed price like the Sky installs, and they don't even consider that some of us put service before cost. Two lost days waiting for the installer is not cheap either.

I know how you feel, Lowlands.
Despite making the decision to get SKY+ last month, I've now pretty much abandoned the idea of getting it, before Christmas at the very least, because I can't get an installer in the Navan area.

I agree with you, I seem to be fighting a losing battle to get reliable installers who turn up when they are supposed to and are able to meet the customers needs. It seems this is not just an Irish problem as I have a supplier in Germany who had a "take it or leave it" attitude. We could learn a lot from the Americans and their attitude to customer service.

Unfortunately with the advent of €15 installs my experience is that some people want top quality service at a ridiculously low price. I admire your attitude to paying for good service but with some installers they will not turn up on time no matter what you pay. These are the very same guys who moan when its busy and whine when its quiet.

    Lowlands.

I made the mistake of using 'Satellite TV' when I moved from Swords and I must say DON'T GO NEAR HIM!!.

    1. He mounted the dish on my aerial which meant it used to blow around.

    2. He used a bracket which was too small to mount the dish. He had to force the bracket open.

    3. He ran the cable down inside my drain-pipe where it is now slowly rotting away.

Sorry I don't know any good installers but I don't recommend this guy.

    Lowlands
I've sent you a PM with contact details of a guy I used to move my dish and install a new cable.

    I hope you got it.

Got it thrillseeker, thanks :) I'm still evaluating my options.

Guess, listening to Max that I was lucky the Satellite TV guy did not show.

Checking the Yellow Pages, the ElectroPlus crowd has the biggest advert, but I remember reading some bad stories on them. That said, my Sky install was done by them, and the guy was on time and did a decent job, but it took him ages to get the phone wires terminated because they were "so small" he could not see them properly!.
