Creative Jukebox 3 allows you to hook up a Studio Mic or powered electret condensor Microphone to line-in. Able to up the gain on input too.

    Records up to 10 hours.
Battery life of 22 hours for playback with additional optional battery.
    20 or 40gb versions available.

If you are looking to record lectures then I don't think an inbuilt mic will be enough but the JB3 has a optional FM wired remote which includes a Microphone.

If you just want a cheap voice recorder/mp3 player then a Muvo NX would do but the files are recorded as voc wave files at a lowish sampling rate. The JB3 records at up to 320kbps mp3 and 44.1khz for line-in recordings

I have an iRiver iHp-120 here review here.

It's the best bit of tech fluff I've ever bought ;)

    Features:
Up to 16 hours of battery life (Li-ion polymer batt)
Supports MP3, WMA, ASF, WAV and OGG music files
Ultra-fast USB 2.0 transfers (up to 40 times faster than USB 1.0)
Integrated FM tuner with 20 station preset
Backlit remote control with 4-line display
    Intuitive music navigation
Real-time MP3 encoding (no PC required)
    20GB of internal storage
Store or transfer files of any type
    Extra-large, 8-line, backlit LCD
    Rechargeable Lithium Polymer battery
    Optical input and output
Upgradeable to future formats and features

You can record from line in, internal mic, external mic to either Wav or to MP3 (any bitrate you want). Sound is excellent. Also most importantly it appears as a mass storage device uner Windows 2000/XP and Mac OS NO DRIVERS!

    Included:
Backlit remote control with 4-line display
    iRiver earphones (Sennheiser MX-300)
    Carrying case
    Installation software CD
    AC adapter
    USB 2.0 cable
    Line-in cable
External microphone (also has an internal mic)
    Printed user manual

Only problem is that it's mucho expersive here... see if you can get it from the States or through a communal purchase like www.DAPReview.com
