Its currently in post production and is due out next year. Looks like its gonna take itself more seriously than the first. Paul Verhoven is not directing this film. The effects look pretty cool but time alone will tell if its any use.

I hope they make better use of the on screen questions posed by the commentator / newsguy. They were perfect cues for interactive DVD action.

The first one was class, it had everything you could want in a movie. Hopefully the sequel won't take itself too seriously, the fact that the first one didn't was one of its strong points IMO.

    MEDIC!!!!!!! :D

Unfortunately it looks like this one is going to be straight-to-video :(
The budget is a lot smaller than before, and although it's the same effects house doing the VFX, I'd say things will be scaled back a bit. There's two interviews over on cghannel.com, with the VFX supervisor Eric Leven and director Phil Tippett (who has crewed on such classics as all 3 Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and.... Howard the Duck).

Still, smaller budget does not a bad film make, I still have high hopes!
