    can i stop my home browser being allowed to load up certain websites.ie in the settings(windows).

    You'd really need to set up some kind of proxy service on your machine to effectively block them.

    If you're dealing with non-technical users, you could use the IE content advisor to block sites, or put the offending hosts in your HOSTS file, and redirect people back to a page on your own machine.

    The Content Advisor in IE is effective, but afaik, there's nothing to stop anyone installing Netscape or opera and bypassing your protection. :)

    I've always found proxomitron to be very good at killing popups, banners etc.. the other plus for it is that you can configure your own filters, plus you can filter your http headers as well as web pages.
    It's also free but doesnt support SSL, so if you go to amazon etc. you'll need to turn it off before you can place your order, but overall very good.
