Sky Viewing Card

Howza goin', this is my first post!

Anywho, since Sky brought out the new viewing cards, our digibox in Spain keeps giving the "The Card Is Not Authorised" message... I can't fully remember what I had to do to change the card over on our digibox in Ireland... I don't think a phone home call to Sky was needed though? Obviously enough, this isn't an option in Spain as we don't have a land line etc and the box is meant to be in Ireland. The box is fully ours now however. Any suggestions how I can activate the card? Someone suggested Sky sent us a UK viewing card, but I really doubt that. RTE and the other Irish TV channels all show up in the epg, but we get the message on all pay channels. Thanks for your help!

I'm not sure but, possibly, Sky's alleged new policy (see Satcure's latest Newsletter) may have something to do with your problem.

Cheers, looks like the box will have to come home so... Bastards! It took a bit of explaining going through customs with it the last time.

There is no customs between Spain and Ireland?

Someone suggested Sky sent us a UK viewing card,

If its an irish box they would have sent it to your registered address in ireland, if your subscription was up to date, they changed all the cards this year.

I've called them twice over the past 2 weeks - the first time to get my existing sub card married to my new box and the second to get my new FTV card activated) and neither person asked if the phone line was connected to my box (it's not btw) so maybe this hasn't been introduced yet?

what exactly is an "Irish" free to view card? all the irish channels are not fta, they are part of the sky package, without a card or subscription wont you just get the free to air stuff off the epg and the bbc off the "add channels" or alternatively turn the old card upside down in the slot to get the bbc chans in the epg.

Fta cards only apply to Uk.
i might be missin the point here ,sorry ,ive been up all night trying to fix a major crash on my pc

the phone line only applies to a new subs to sky where you get the box free
