I think my sleeping habits may be getting slightly out of habit since I became unemployed 2 months or so ago. Today for instance I went to sleep at 12:30p.m. and didn't even get out of bed again till 21:50. How concerned should I be about this kinda behaviour I wonder. I've finally decided to do something about it, but just wondering what all the boarders thought?

It's not a very healthy thing to do all the time, but I enjoy doing it from time to time, eg when I have a day off from Uni. The obvious factors involved are work and socialising. You say you're currently out of work, but when is the last time you went out, met mates etc?

I find that being up during the night relaxes me more. I can concentrate on things that I would otherwise not get the chance to during the day. It gives me a great sense of calm, and a bit of time to sort my head out.
I'm not making a habit of it though.

    GET A JOB YOU HIPPY
    :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Its true and I've been saying it to ya for awhile, but anyway....
Yes staying up late into the night is great and all but you need to come to a happy medium at some point as its NOT health at all doing it every day off the week.

Yeah ok sleeping in till 12 or 1 or 2 is grand now and then but if your doing it everyday I find you become lazy as hell and half your day is gone, I know I used to do it.

Get up early, the day seems longer, you won't stay up late because you'll be tired.
Also you'll want to do something during the day and getting a job is something that should be included in that
    :)

Perfectly normal, I gravatate towards that schedule myself when i'm not working, milk it while you can, once they suck you back into the 9-5 bullshit sleep will become a scarce resource

I work shift, so I get the best of all worlds (not just both) I can stay up to 5am, get 8 hours kip and still be in time for work. A different weekly shift also means, that I can do stuff during day, like go to the bank, Post Office etc without taking time off or such.

    9-5 sucks, tbh.

When working in the hospital I get the swinging shifts...Sometimes I work first shift, sometimes I work second, and even sometimes I pull two shifts. There is nothing wrong with becoming a night owl...If it dosen't mess up all the other things you do...If changing it is what you want to do try setting your alarm clock to go off and go running, work out! You don't have to be lazy??? Maybe your body needs the break?

    Who knows...

That's just over 9 hours sleep, what's the problem? Did you just come off an early morning shift or a long night shift?

nothing wrong with those sleeping hours, many people work night shifts/awkard hours and end up sleeping during the day. Although I would say is that you need sunlight, some people get depressed without it as it has an effect on the human body/mind (can't quite remember which).
