Accountant/Software for Contractor?

(Again please move this if it's on the wrong board).

I've finally got my company registered and should have bank account open soon. Just wondering if any small or single-person limited companies have recommendations for good (and not unreasonably expensive) accountants? If not, is there any particular software that you use that makes doing your year-end relatively pain-free?

    TIA

I use GIANT for my accounts - they charge about €115 per month (including VAT) and do all the standard IT contractor stuff for that - see www.giant.ie (or PM me and I'll give you the accountant's email address)..

For software I recommend an excel sheet and a couple of macros - our accounts are really that easy and you will find all the stuff that comes in proper accounts software is too much of a p.i.t.a. to be useful.

Yeah, for a small company, doing your own accounts in excel shouldn't prove to be too difficult, so long as you keep yourself up-to-date (ie sit down and update your records on the last Sunday of every month). Most accountants should be more than happy to give you a cheap(ish) consultation on what you need to do, and what you need to submit.

Go to www.revenue.ie and there should be info there.

    :)

Oh yeah - sign up for the Revenue Online System and file all your returns online - it will save you a great deal of time/effort.
