    umm, serious answer: depends on configuration.

    complete guestimate:

    Nah seriously, if you've a college type setup where hdds are read only and security is tight as fsck then you'll only need between 7 and 20 I'd say.

    But if you let developers loose on ~700 machines with full access rights you'd prolly be better off around 35 or so cos there'll be so much config crap to do after they try to fix it themselves.

    Also remember its not just pcs but networks, phonelines, printers, projectors, etc etc


    Based on experience of our own bofh being snowed under by 18 muppet developers and installing a new dedicated line etc etc ...

    1 person per 60-100 users. Usually all files saved on n/w drives, standard h/w build and ghost re-imaging if anything goes wrong.
