Does anyone know if the hauppague nexus or nova is compatible with a motorised setup? like a H to H motor and perhaps a Vbox positioner?

Also, does it have a CI for pay TV?

Thanks for any comments in advance

    1) Check the Diseq motor does not take too much LNB cable current.

    2) ANY PC satellite card can in theory do it. The Hauppage and Technotrend SW only do straight LNB, or 2 Way Diseqc or 4way Diseq switches. Alternate 3rd party SW *DOES* do the Diseqc Motor drive.

    Approximately:
    Hauppauge Nexus-s = Skystar1= Technotrend Premium/High End PCI

    Hauppauge Nova-s = Skystar2 = Technotrend Basic PCI

(Nexus-t and Nova-t are for "freeview/DTT" not satellite)

Technotrend appear to make most of the PCI and USB satellite cards and a goodly proportion of DTT, Cable and DAB PCI cards too.

www.technotrend.de for up-to-date drivers (works on Hauppauge card, better than Hauppage Application that cam with my old Hauppauge WinTV DVB-s PCI card). The last one did not do motor drive. DVDProg or DVD2000 I think may do motor drive and have Hauppauge / Technotrend versions.

Unless it is a dedicated EON download use, the SkyStar1/Premium/Nexus is a MUCH better card. (DSP chip, IR remote on board, True built in TV out, true built in Digital and Analog Audio out etc).

The Premium versions can use a separately purchased CI board for a real CAM and real viewing card. (but not a Sky Card). Generally the "basic" versions of Satellite cards do not have a multimedia bridge chip nor a CI board connector so can't be used with real CAM and viewing cards.

The 3rd party applications mentioned can use a Software CI and a USB or serial port smart card reader for the real card. Some 3rd party versions work in this way with Skystar2/Nova/basic PCI card. It may be illegal depending on your location and source of program material to use 3rd party software that simulates the card as well. A real subscription is recommended.

The SW CAM with a USB or Serial port ISO Card reader is likely to be less reliable than a true authorised HW CAM on the real CI board. Some SW Cams published even have had trojans inserted by the providers to erase / disable pirate cards.

Apart from the dishonesty and legal aspects "pirates" can end up spending more on "Programmers", hex code search time, and blank "fun cards" etc than a real sub would cost. Many European operators have MUCH cheaper packages than Sky's.
