Just wondering what HMV/Golden Discs/Virgin are charging for the following 3 dvd's:

U2 - Go Home (live at slane)
Red Hot Chillies - live at slane
    Coldplay - live 2003

/edit - throw in Robbie Williams - What we did this summer DVD as well...

Something quite scary may come out of this....

    Hi

HMV in Blanch had yesterday wrongly priced U2 - Go Home (live at slane) for 24.99 (by the door) and 29.99 at the back of the store.

    Good deal.

Again, I know you mentinoned HMV, Virgin etc, but why not check out Play.com:

    U2 Go Home: €18.55
    Red Hot Chili Peppers: €21.41
Coldplay - Live: Special Edition: €25.70

Haven't checked CD-WOW hk. They are probably cheaper again. Both sites also offer free delivery. So what you see is what you pay!

Well, the reason I ask the question was simply this:

HMV on Pitt St in Sydney (equiv to Grafton Street), is selling each of these DVD's at the FULL price of AU$35 each (including the Coldplay special edition one), thats eur21.35 each.

Funnily, this compares pretty favourably with the online prices quoted. Also, funnily, Australia is one of the very few countries where CD/DVD sales have not been affected that badly over the last few years.

So how come HMV in one country can be very competitive, but in Ireland it is an absolute rip off. (The differing rates of VAT (21%) /GST(10%) do not account for such a sizable difference either!). Oh - you also get loads of live bands in that HMV as well - saw the Frames play a full gig 3 Monday's ago at lunchtime - class!!
