bit complicated need the name of the film

I am looking for the name of a film that i saw advirtised on RTE 1 or network 2 about 2-3 years ago. From watching the ad this is what i deduced:

The film is set in an american high school where boy meets girl and they fall in love. He ends up being abusive and she is trying to break up with him but he won't let her, he carves something like "i love (name of girl) on his stomach. Never saw the film so no idea how it ends.

Anyone know the name of the film or have any extra info?

I think you might be talking about a movie called "Fear".
It starred Reese Witherspoon and Mark Wahlberg.

oh yeah, i remember that - it was fear! and there was a deadly theme song to it too, or at least they played the song on the ads on rte, does anyone know the song?

It /is/ every third-rate movie ever made. I was going out with someone a few years ago who tended to ask the chap in the local Xtravision if there was anything good out. He recommended this pile of poo. She tended to make her own mind up after that.
