There is an article in The Register going on about peoples ecommerce and other complaints ... but at the bottom of the article there was the following:
Consumers have had enough of being bombarded with "Get Rich Quick" schemes and business opportunities, including the notorious Nigerian 419 spam, which continues to clog people's email boxes.

Indeed, the Florida Department of Banking and Finance reports that these scams are the fifth largest industry in Nigeria, accounting for more than $5 billion in illegal income for scammers.
HOLY SCAM BATMAN:eek: ... $5000000000 dollars from that poxy 419 scam ... no wonder they are still at it and expanding into Spanish lottery scams etc etc ....
I suppose they know that the best way to get money from people is those peoples own greed....

Actually, Gerry Ryan was on about it this morning ... they are very well organised and great at counterfitting bank drafts etc (they get a bank draft for €5 and change it to read €5000000) ... of course the banks will only honour €5 of it ... but by that time the scammer is long gone with whatever proceeds he gets from you

The best scams are the Nigerian officials who will "help" you to get your money back, for a purely nominal consideration, up front. :)
