Here's a strange one from the Teletext site at http://www.teletext.co.uk/about_teletext/ch4.asp -

"Teletext and Channel 4 have joined forces to bring you a great new service.
Teletext on 4 includes all you’d expect from a Teletext service - a wealth of essential programme support information such as contact details and recipes, TV listings, interviews with the stars and much more.

On the digital versions of the service, you can also find news, finance, sport, weather, racing, and lottery results.

We will be using familiar page numbers to help you find your way straight to the facts you need. It is all kept constantly up to date and it’s available at the touch of a button, without stirring from the sofa. Best of all, it’s free!

The service launched in October on analogue (non-digital) Channel 4, replacing the old 4Tel/Fourtext service. Check out the index on p400 to see what’s on offer this week – and please keep checking back for the latest updates.

Teletext on 4 will shortly become available on the major digital television platforms – Freeview and satellite. Eventually, you will be able to access the service by pressing the “TEXT” button on your remote, whenever you are watching any Channel 4 programme, including E4 and FilmFour, via any distribution platform.
Digital terrestrial (Freeview): A full service, accessible via the “TEXT” button behind Channel 4, will launch within the next few weeks.

Digital satellite (Sky): A full service, accessible via the "TEXT" button behind almost all Channel 4's channels (including E4, FilmFour etc but excluding E4 Eire), will launch within the next few weeks.

Digital cable: We hope to bring you this service next year. Watch this space for further details.

Keep checking here to find out what’s on!"

Interesting that they should exclude "E4 Eire".

    Why ? Any ideas ?

    All together now...
It's an old film at this stage....
But as Mike Myers said " We're not worthy... "

After all we're just Irish and only good for taking things off of us ( money ) but they'll be darned if they'll bother giving more than they have to back...

Hmm, it'll be interesting to see if it'll be any good. I'll be able to use it with my UK sub. Can't say I'm a fan of digital teletext, or indeed the Teletext service on UTV/C4 analogue. Too many adverts. I like Ceefax or Aertel.

Aye, it's like comparing Pine and Outlook as an email client.

Teletext will soon be available as a digital teletext service via Channel 4, E4, and Film Four on Sky Digital.
    But wait for it......
Not in the Republic of Ireland.

Sorry Charles, but your interesting post had disappeared to a previous page on the forum. I wasn't aware of it.

I don't have an Irish sub card, but is E4+1 on an Irish card the UK version?
If so, it may mean you can get teletext through this channel.

me either, but I think it is.
if it's on filmfour there shouldn't be any reason technically why it couldn't be on E4+1, since they're both on the same transponder.

Hmm, I would guess that the text will only be available on the main C4 transponder so maybe not E4+1 unless it's on same tp. I'm looking forward to its launch, though it'll probably have more ads than info

    No probs carrolls.

Interesting point about E4+1. I've never checked the ads on it to see if it's the UK version (but for some reason I always assumed it was).

I wonder if Channel 4 are considering an Irish text service. Can't really see the benefit of it, so maybe not.

Aren't Channel 4 intending to launch a channel next year aimed at an older audience than E4 ? I wonder if it will make it to the Irish EPG.
