LNB Availability

I ordered Sky+ almost three weeks ago now and had to ring the installer last week to find out when he is doing it. He said there is a serious shortage of LNBs at the moment and that he wouldnt have any unti lthis week at least. He mentioned calling another installers and that they couldnt get them either.
Would anyone know if this guy is telling the truth or just bulls****ing me?

I dont know to be honest, all i know is that there is a lack of sky plus boxes in som electical retaillers because i have to wait until next monday for my replacement sky plus box due to harddrive failure

Yes there was an lnb shortage last week at armstrongs but they have some now.

yep..Sky+ was installed yesterday. And I must say the installer did an excellent job. He managed to pull two new wires down behind the plaster board using the existing wire from the attic. Perfect job with no wires running all over the house.

Fair play to him. Most Sky homes that I have seen have the wire on the external wall. Was it an independant or Sky installer?

He was an independent from Enniskerry. He had a look at the outside first to see where he could run the wire and said if it was his house he would hate to have wires running around it so he would try inside. Once he said that I knew he would do a good job as he actually seemed to care about what he was doing. He also sells wireless phone extenders so he doesnt have to run wires around the house for the phone also. I already had one though so I didnt take him up on that.

He sounds like one of the good guys. Any idea what the cost of the phone extender was?

To be honest I didnt ask how much it was as I already had one and I was afraid of what he would say

I figured he was a decent guy so I didnt want to ruin my impression of him by finding out how much he was making on them. Of course it could have been a reasonable price.
