Been a major fan i am delighted to hear that all the series will be put on dvd before the end of 2004. I used to rate it as the best show on tv and have every one on tape. Anybody else like the show?

    Oh Boy !!!!

Yeah, I loved it too. How many episodes where there ??

There was one episode that really got hit by. Sam leaped into a Downes kid. (I think he was one of the few people that he had to leap into again in a later episode). Anyway, it was the sheer frustration that he felt in trying to do things, but his coordination kept letting him down. A very sensitive handling as far as I remember.

Some of the more comic episode were great too.

Is it on anywhere on satellite now ??

Nope. They did wrap it up in the last episode though (there's a discussion about it here a good while back) rather than just letting the series disappear without a conclusion of sorts.

I think it was around 97, i have them all on tape, taped them of the beeb years ago, my favorites include the one as Lee Harvey Oswald, it was fantastic stuff but the ennding was just plain poor and i allways hoped they would get it back but never did.

I was havin this exact conversation with my housemate the other nite. That show ruled!!!Not too mention that Sam was really cute (not so much in Enterprise). What was the guy's name that helped him? I think his real name was Dean Stockwell.

I think I'm one of the only sci-fi fans who didn't like it! Something about it bothered me. Actually here's one thing in particular:

Say Sam is - what - 6'? He jumps into the body of a 5' woman. Now at some point the 5' woman goes through a door of height 5'5". She can pass through fine but Sam couldn't. Would Sam duck or would we have seen him pass through the door's frame? What would others have seen him done? Did he see from their height? Eek

I think Sam jumps from person to person, we see him as sam and so does Al but to everyone else he is just that person so i don't think it matters what height he is. The one confushing one was the civil war one where he went back beyond his own generation and met Martin Luther Kings Great Grandad! He was supposed to only leap within his own lifetime?

Anybody remember the TIme Tunnel, i also used to love that but i grew up and think its kinda cheap now but quantum lleap is still ace!

yeah it was a great show with some great episodes, remember when he jumped into al? that was one of my favourites

I never got the show - he was hopping around & the plots were sort of suspect.

He always sorted out their problems so there was little or no surprises.

well in any tv show you have to resolve the story somehow so you cant give out about him sorting out the problems.

at least in quantum leap the correct resolution wasn't always a storybook happy ending and it didn't always jump out at you from the start.

also it was one of the few scifi series to attempt to tackle people's everyday sort of problems with also a bit of scope of recent history as well. rather than being all aliens and government plots and explosions.

having said that it had the drawback that in lacking a permanent supporting cast the characters other than sam and al were always too sketchy. but hey, it was a kids programme :)

    and the chimps were kewl.

    enterprise, why!??

The thing about him being in the bodies of whoever it was that week doesn't really work either. There was one ep where he leaped into a guy with no legs. But then he got up and walked! They showed it from someone else's view and it was the legless guy "floating". This was the only thing I could ever find wrong with the show. Otherwise it's brilliant and hasn't dated a bit. [Probably 'cause it was always set in the past anyway.] Best episodes were the ones where someone or something famous was involved. Last ep was class too. Best ending to any series I can think of. Remember the one where Sam and Al switched places? Excellent!

Money I'd imagine (regular paychecks for actors are always good). And being on a series with a guaranteed core audience leading to some career advancement.

Just thought I'd dig up this thread to be one more person point out how amazing this show is.

Currently working my way thru the DVDs at the minute and I'm happy to say despite it's origin this show has totally held up. It's amazing that a network-restricted show which is essentially about a religious Mr.Perfect do-gooder can still work past my cynical nature and capture my imagination after all these years.

Just finished the ep "Leap Home Part 2" and the ending it just typifies the sort of bittersweet tone that underpins what is on the surface just a gimmicky light family show.

Anyway this was just a shout-out to what I have just right now decided is my all-time favourite tv show.

Even though this thread is 7 years old and will prob get locked......Quantum leap was a great show. Scott Bakula was great in it. I'll have to pick up the dvds.

Oh man, I loved Quantum Leap. Watched it every day on Sky One when I was a kid. A friend gave me the first series on DVD a couple of years ago but criminally I haven't watch much of it yet.

It's always weird when I see the actor who plays Al in other programmes and movies. My immediate reaction is "BUT THEY CAN'T SEE YOU AL!!"

No he just lept. :( Was really sad. Loved this series. Especially the one when Al and Sam swapped! That was awesome! Also the one when Sam went and met Al's first wife and was dancing with her in the living room :*(

I feel a QL Marathon coming on!
