If all you've ever eaten is chicken kung po and noodles or whatever they have in takeaways and most restaurants in ireland, then you've never really had chinese food.

If anyone'd appreciate a reccommendation, the best place I know of for oriental food (in Dublin anyway) is the Langkawi Malaysian restaurant. It's at 40 Upper Baggot Street, in D4.

Aaaaargh!!! WHY? Why must chinese restaurants and take aways offer CHIPS! Surrounded by all this exotic food, temptingly spicey, mind broadening and also quite nutritious by the way.... The average Irish Slob goes..

    "ehhhh, spring roll and chips"

WHY? Go to a ****in' CHIPPER if you want chips...

/me notices my rant-mode switch accidentally in the "on" position....

Went to a Chinese restaurant in London last time I was over (ooooh, aren't I awful cosmo... well, not really I've only ever been there three time and only 'cos I've family there..), anyhoo, first time I ever just picked a menu item at random. I had to, it was in Chinese and I can't read that particular language but the pictures are nice! . anyway, turned out to be Dim Sum served in a wicker steamer with steamed rice and noodles... drooooool... took me ages to work out the chopsticks though smile.gif

Anyone been into Wagamama, underground outside Stephen's Green Centre on Stephen's Street, D2 ? ... I liked it myself... although it's a little pricey...

and I just -forced- myself to get used to the chopsticks wink.gif

As for chips... when you're just having a blokey meal of a chicken curry and lager... who cares, eh? smile.gif

Most chinese restaurants in Dublin would do dim sums before 6pm. Also they all have a special chinese menus for chinese customers with totally different food listed on them. What's on the other menu are just westernised food that I wouldn't consider chinese food. Takeaways with their chicken balls and curries is a joke.

I'll probably start a flame war but they only taste nice if you compare it to the Irish crusine you got smile.gif Compare them to proper chinese food they're a load of poo.

MMMM Wagamama's is damn tasty The first time I went was over in London it think it was lexention street the one problem was the cues but the food was lovely. If you ever go to London there is a lovely resturant on Wafdorf street us up from a pub called the intreped fox (what a cool pub it has half a car over the bar smile.gif ). I could never work out the name of the resturant it looks like a load of u's,m's and n's stuck together. Well priced and lovely food if you like Wagamama's you'll love this place drooollllll. I knew I shouldn't have replied its only 9:20 and I'm getting hungry smile.gif

Wagammas is alright - nothing special. Still, those pad thingys they use for taking orders are cool.
