The boards concerning every1

I know i've done it b4 and so has pretty much every1 else at some point. Namely posting stuff that is completely irevelant to the quake boards. For instance, amps post on how he hacked magic or my post a while back on how to make it easier to copy mp3s to minidisc and so on. Personally, i'd rather c relevant posts to quake or quake style games in general to be made here. The problem is, theres a whole wealth of other boards here but no1 reads them therefore, every1 posts their stuff here. Now its been said b4 that we should get rid of a couple, but i wanna go 1 step further. How bout we get rid of all of them except the quake board and then create 2 others. 1for general discussion which wood include everything thats posted here that aint quake. And another being a techie board which wood take all the boards under the technology heading and put them under 1board. Have the quake board more riguruosly controlled so that non-quake styled posts be deleted on sight and the same wood apply to the other boards. Having 3 boards then aint such a stress and hopefully wood then poeple wood start reading all 3. Its not exactly a big effort to look at 3boards.IS it?? Hopefully then, we could start seeing some interesting quake/quake clone posts being made. Maybe a fourth board for TFC/TRibes players mite have to be made but
but i'm not sure if theres a demand for those anymore. So there ya have it. Soz for the long post but i have a hour breal and my m8s r stuck in a tutorial.

The other boards are used ('cept Radio ffs). Would it be a big job for the admins to move non-quake posts to another board rather than deleting them, just until ppl get the message.

i can see fury's point , its difficult to check all the boards , having 3 or so would make it easier to keep up to date , but it would loose its specialist nature , btw i only check the quake boards anyways coz i dont havbe the time , interesting opinion anyways fury im divided on it

I thought this was a board for people who were primarily interested in Quake but also discussed other stuff also.

p.s. I think Quake, RPG, Techie and General should about cover it.

All the other FPS game posts could be put under quake - I don't think anyone will mind reading posts about the other FPS shooters (Tribes, UT, etc) - they only last a few months anyhow until ppl go back to/discover QW

fury, ure dead on. it's the only way to do it, there are too many boards. And ignore Hobbes thinking ppl actually post to his role-playing board, he just has lots of nicks and writes to himself : (must....save....face...) etc

hobbes does indeed have multiple personalities, but i dont think he has the time for that many

its a good idea, but i think 3 is a bit small. i post to a lot of the boards here and i think a lot of them could be be put together.

tch and technology could go together,
books, radio, tv and any other media could all go together
all the real life and stuff like that could go together
programming, html OS's and all that rubbish together
quake should stay on itsown
tribes, UT, h-l could all be put together
rpg board should be seperated and a gimp test put onit to ensure only rpg'ers go there

that would narrow it down to 7 or 8 boards and i think that should do it.

oh, and a spam board where we could all back-bite, b1tch, moan and call each others loosers for actually doing all this rubbish.
you could call it zero tolerance. maybe zero could take over that one (only kiddin man)

only a thought, but i donmt really care. i started ignoring most posts about 3 months ago

Aye nice to so c a couple of replies. I think 3 boards may be a little small alrite but i dont think there should be no more than the amount of boards EWJ suggested. Maybe even what WWM suggested but that at max. I'd put it forward to CLoud if i got a bit more replies in favour or better still he share his opinion with us.

well i dunno
i think that the smaller boards are kinda like those small pubs that ya go into only the odd time when you want to escape the regular crowd, ya know, to lay low and have a decent in depth conversation with someone ya haven't seen in a while.
basicly i like them and i think they should hand around.

I think probably some of the boards could be joined into one ... cause there does seem to be a few that get very little attention (and in most cases the idea with a post is to get as many ppl as possible to see it and reply)

But i'd still think that 3 Boards would be way to small ... and posts would quickly get lost in the flood if every post was going into the same board (or even just the 3)

But gettin into the idea of exactly what rates as a Quake post - and if it fails deleting it - may be a bit harsh.

Weed the Boards down a bit but not to just 3.

Well I can tell you for one, no one's going to like the RP discussions appearing in a general forum. One of the reasons the board expanded in the first place.

But some of them could be group (least in the Technology section).

Nah, I like to see some un-quake related stuff jumbled in there with the Quake stuff. A nice balance. Sure if you don't like them, don't read them.
