    Hi
Got sky plus a couple of weeks ago camo home to the despair that my sky box was saying "system fault cannot record or playback please contact brodcaster for assistance"

I read that is is most likely to be the hard drive.

Will this be convered in guarantee?

    Thanks

DONT GET SKY PLUS IT BREAKS TO EASY

Yes of course it will be covered under warranty (unless you dropped the box down the stairs or took the thing apart to have a look inside!).

Is it possible to replace the HDD in a Sky+ with a larger (120Gig) one

Of course a digibox with built in DVD burner would be better

Im not sure if it will be under garuntee but i could be wrong..

Im playing with the idea of a self install myself but this is a sticking point for me too..
Although i want to save €75 but will i end up paying more on repairs?

    Anyone know

It is warrantied if self installed unless you damage it yourself by dropping it etc

I'm not aware of any problems so far but hards drives do fail from time to time just like every other piece of technology.

Not sure to be honest as I've not had any failures yet.

I have the Sky guy coming to me today to replace my Sky+ box due to a modem failure, I have the box for about 6 months, the problem is I got the box in the UK and if i want to use the warranty i will have to send the box back to the shop where i got it so i have to pay the call out charge - €108. Modem failure means i cant use the box office services and any pay to view programs,as far as i know it dos'nt effect anything else, also during the first 12 months Sky cant communicate with the box which might have caused problems

The guy called checked it out and said that he would have me a new box next week all i have to do is
    Give Him a Call
Put the old reciever into the box
    Bring it to the shop
They will give me a new package

I am glad of this, but i hope they will be in on monday because i will only be around on monday

I've gone the 'Self install' Route.
This seemed to cause Sky major confusion, 1st they told me to go back to the shop where I bought it, then they tell the guy in the shop that I need to ring them. They won't accept the contract that the guy in the shop has, they have to send me out a special one. Even the guy in the shop was getting pissed off with Sky.
It seems there's no tick box for 'the customer knows what he's doing and installed it himself' on their computer. Spent a whole 1hr in the shop dealing with that.

Can i ask the store to say to sky that they got one of "theirs" to go and put it up for me or would that have long term imlications?

    Thanks,
