Advice on selling laptop please

Sorry if this is a nuisance, but I asked for this thread to be moved and not a sign of it. So I'm just reposting here:

I'm going to be selling my PowerBook (G3, very stylish black and curvy type, with 512MB of RAM but only umm smallish hard drive. More details later; it's not here with me right now).

It's the kind with a Pismo chip, and originally came with a DVD reader and CD-ROM combined. But this died gradually over the last year or so, and I'd like to replace it with a straight CD-ROM before selling the PowerBook.

So, two questions: where can I get a CD-ROM for the Pismo PowerBook here or in England (I'm told that the kind for a Lombard PowerBook would also fit it).

And how much should I be looking for?

Oh, and I'll also be selling a USB external CD-RW, an Iomega one, slow by today's zoomy standards but nice, all blue-and-silver, and a reliable little yoke.

Reasons for the sale in both cases are that I'm upgrading.

dont know anything you asked, but......

will you be selling the laptop on boards? or do you already have a buyer.

    I haven't got a buyer yet.

I've upgraded, and my new machine is shortly to be with me, but it'll be a couple of weeks, because I have to back up two years of work on the G3 and then take all my own stuff off it, maybe reinstall the OS.

    Which model is it (http://www.everymac.com/).
and whats the spec? Some apple places in Ireland used to allow trade ins.

Oh, and to look at it's like the one that Cassie (Carrie? Yer wan with the hair) in Sex and the City uses.

About 200 euro without the cd/DVD unit

    About 350 with it.

    powerbook guy

    They aren't cheap.

If you have the caddy (plastic bit the Cd Drive goes into) I may be able to help you.

I have a Cd Drive that will work, stripped from a Ibook clip on the tray is broken but the drive works fine should be able to combine your old one and the new one together to make one that works perfectly...

OR there are shops on ebay selling CD-RW modules that replace the mac cd rom for 150 odd.

    PM Me if your interested.

A replacement from mac averages 170 euro ...definetly not cheap.

    Laters

    steve
