We just got rid of our last mac here in work which means i no longer use any mac machines (due to my machine at home being used as a doorstop atm).

Therefore, Im not really qualified to mod this forum anymore.

Is anyone interested in modding this forum?

Ill look at the list and and recommend someone to the admins when i step down.

Glad this forum has taken off anyway, its in a lot better shape than some of the other "pointless" forums.

Yeah I wouldn't mind looking after it. Regularly use OS X on my ibook and I'm a part time unix geek too.

Been using these boards since 1998, about time I moderated somthing ;)

I would refuse to work in a place which forced me to use any OS other than the Mac OS.

But then I work for myself at home, so it's not a problem.

That was a really dumb statement. Most people work with OS dependent applications in work, you think a company is going to port the software they use to mac os just so you'll work for them?
    :))))))

No, sweetums. I'm saying that I wouldn't work for someone who made me use a blunt instrument that caused me aggravation and reduced my productivity. That isn't a dumb statement; it's a statement of my view about what I would be prepared to do.

I feel very sorry for Dustaz, if he has to use substandard software in his work.

It must be nice to be financially secure enough to pick and choose jobs according to whether they let you use a mac :(

Who said I was? I am not independently wealthy. I typeset books in Irish to pay the rent. (Wonderful niche market.) I work for myself, at home.

Could I be richer if I used Windows? I doubt it. I'd hate it, and I would be unproductive.

Tools are tools. I expect to use the best tools available. I'd turn down a job that required me to use an IBM Selectric typewriter or an old Underwood too.

Your monitor must be massive, is it? I have noticed that Apple is like a religion for those who use Macs. Douglas Adams was very fond of Macs (as I'm sure any Mac person will know) and used to frequently discuss Mac related things with other enthusiasts on forums which were on his official website as far as I remember.

I'd like Macs loads better if Apple would shift their emphasis a bit more to function (rather than form). Having a mouse with only one "button" is exceedingly crap.

The Cinema Display is massive enough, yes.

Religion? I wouldn't say so. Using a Mac is a genuine pleasure. They are beautiful and functional and truly plug-and-play. Throughout the years I have computed (beginning with a pre-WordStar Radio Shack word processor that saved to cassette tape) I have heard tale after tale of woe from people who have to use Windows OS. I've had my dad try to get me to debug e-mail or internet problems that he never had when he had a Mac earlier. ("I told you that you'd have problems like this. Sell the damn thing and get an iBook." "OK, you were right.")

Gods forfend against the day that I have to use more then one mouse button. I get along very well with only one, and find myself quite irritated when using mice with more than one button. I can never remember which one is which. You can get multi-button USB mice for your Macintosh if you want.

But function rather then form? Try an electronic meeting via iChat. Absolutely stunning compression yielding excellent speed and resolution. And the iSight is gorgeous in both form and function.
