Myself, Dev and Slosh were thinking of running another lan with the idea of a complete lock-in for the weekend. (lock-in during the night anyhows) Starting on a Friday night, ending on a Sunday Evening in the near future.

Ok, heres the thing : since it's coming up to XMas, hiring a hall for that lenght of time is expensive. Id be a wondering if people would be prepared to pay about 40-50 quid a head for the whole weekend ? Depending on the numbers of course.

    Let us know.

Errr MP theres only 8 weeks to Xmas would it not make more sense to run this in Jan when we could get somewhere cheaper. Just a thought. £50 lids to be locked in room for a weekend with You, Dev, Slosh is my idea of a nightmare tongue.gif

Without the rain and the tent and the chaining 4-ways together from bedrooms and the running and the screaming and the monkies on fire...

Still the organisational power of Slosh, MP my good self and others could make for an interesting lan.

Imagine 24 hour playing...a room to yourself when you feel like a sleep, a drink or smoke.
Permanent party and loads of time to get stuff played... mmm I know what my first choice would be...

yes dev we do know, but i leeched all you donkey pr0n at dublan

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,643 ✭✭✭Jak

What venue are you thinking about if any?

I never have an easy time getting my time sorted on a weekend (never did make it to Dublan) but i'd be interested in playing a LAN sometime to see what its like. So whenever the next one is count me in.

40 quid sounds payable - but the whole Lockin idea sounds a bit serious.

around february would be cool, and cheap so we can stay for longer

If all you want is a room , i.e no bar there must be a 100's of community halls around which lie unused from one week to the next.
Post a req. for details of same and I bet loadsa suggestions turn up.

I'd say leave it till after Christmas anyway.

£30-£35 would be as high as I could pay. Any chance of a student discount smile.gif

    nah **** havin a bar..
just loads of cans and somewhere comfortable to sit smile.gif

I think the trend is for after x-mas. Also, Canaboid is right. Surely there is a community centre not in use. If anyone has a chance, give your local community centre a shout and see what kind of rates they will charge. And dont forget its 24hours.

    Is it strictly weekend? Fri/Sat

Or is there some bank holiday we could tie this into?

Just on the community halls idea...alot of them I've dealt with don't allow smoking on the premises (althought that never stopped anyone) and some are wary of the place being active all night - one place I dealt with wanted us to hire a security guard for the night if we wanted to stay after 10 p.m.

I'd like to go if you'll have me.
    X-mas - Easter sound's the best.
50 sounds ok if you have to get a gard.

I pulled the plug on Dublan :)

The parish hall in Maynooth is a bit of a five so i cant imagine it gets used for any kinda functions and alike, therefore it should be cheap. Its as big as what we had at Dublan. Though last time i was in there, years ago, it was freezing and smelt of old people and bingo. Other than that, it'd be great craic. Got a nice big stage where u could throw servers and that projector Mp always has. Theres loads of seats there, not sure bout how many tables and smoking is allowed, if it aint, i cant c any1 stopping u. Mindu, all this is coming from the top of my head as i havent actually been in the hall for years, but its still a kip so surely not too much has changed. It wood do smile.gif
